"Great," he thought. "First there's a girl in my bed I've never met
before claiming to be my girlfriend, and then there's a guy I don't
know on the phone asking for her. What now?"
"Hello?" said the voice on the other end of the line. "Are you still
there?"
"Hold on," Jim said. He handed the phone to the beautiful stranger.
"It's for you," he told her.
Wordlessly, she took the phone. "Hello?" she asked. Jim heard the
faint sounds of the calling party on the other end. Sarah looked up
in confusion. "Jim," she said. "This guy claims he's you."
"What? Give me that!" She passed the phone back. "Who is this?"
There was chuckling on the other end. "Just checking," said the other
party. "I just wanted to see if everything was the way I remembered it."
"What are you talking about?"
"You'll find out soon enough. Meanwhile, why don't you ask your bedmate
there how she got there?" The line went dead. Confused, Jim hung up the
phone.
"What was that all about?" asked Sarah.
"I don't know. But it ended with some good advice. How did you get here,
anyway?"
