Edith headed off to her new job at Chemecorp where she worked as a shipping clerk. As was her habit, she cut around behind the building planning to go in through the loading docks.
Coincidentally, at that time, Chemecorp was preparing to ship a bunch of it's failed chemical experiments off for destruction (who are we kidding - off for illegal dumping). When Edith was coming up the stairs a Lifttruck lost it's load dumping a barrels of a number of different - never before mixed chemicals that burst near but not over Edith.
Shocked, Edith inhaled shaprly - unknowingly inhaling the peculiar invisible gas that had been created when the chemicals mixed.
"Hey, Kid, get outta here." the lift truck driver yelled and Edith scurried off to her little cubical.
