Jim remembered Carrie from his days at Ambergris University. The dorms had been made co-ed the year before, and Jim ended up rooming with a very pretty Scottish girl named Carolyn MacAllister. She had been only a couple of inches shorter than Jim's six feet, with a wild mane of blazing red hair, a sprinkling of freckles, a heart of gold and a twisted sense of humor. Once, Jim had woken up after an all-nighter writing a term paper to find several dozen snakes dangling in his face, fangs glistening - eventually they turned out to be rubber, and a "present" from Carrie.
Jim reached for the box with "Carolyn Anne MacAllister James" written on the side. (Apparently Carrie had gotten married in the last few years. Or at least, this Carrie did, or the real Carrie, or - Jim was rapidly getting a headache.)
Popping th lid, he reached inside and pulled out a styrofoam head wearing the face of a beautiful pale woman, about Jim's age, with a sprinkle of freckles on her tiny pert nose and pierced ears. Flame-colored hair hung from her scalp down past the bottom of the mask. It was Carrie, all right.
But why was there a perfect copy of all these women here? Jim knew he had to...
