Jim was busily making small talk with the girls in coffee room. Topics ranged from prime-time TV the night before to shopping to rating the cutest male butts in the office. Jim was enthralled by the whole conversation; never before had he such ease talking with girls. Unfortunately, Jim received a page from Miss Everts to see her ASAP.
"Sorry girls, but duty calls. I will catch you girls later," Jim shouted to the girls as she left.
"Catch you later, girlfriend," one of the ladies retorted. Jim loved that they thought of him as one of their own.
When Jim entered Miss Everts office, she was busy typing away at her computer. "Oh, Jim, so glad to see you. I called you in here because I really wanted to tell you something. Your 1 month review is still a week away, but I thought that now was as good as any time to give you your review. Why don't you be seated."
Jim sat in one of the two plush chairs in front of her desk, making sure to cross his legs in a very lady-like manner to maintain formality. "Jim, I'll get to the point. You are progressing faster than I expected. You have adapted quicker to the office enviroment faster than I and the rest of my bosses expected. We feel that you have mastered all of your secretarial duties. You have only been here 3 weeks, and already you have become a model employee. It is my decision, therefore, that you be given a chance for a promotion. Are you interested?"
Jim was more than delighted and his checks flushed with coy embarrasment. "I don't know what to say, Miss Everts. Thank you so much! What would I do?"
"Well, you would still be my secretary. But you will be given more responsibilities and opportunities. In exchange, your salary will double and you will be given other accomodations to suit your new position. Do you accept?"
The question of what kind of additional responsibilities these might be crossed Jim's mind, but for some reason it didn't seem to matter. Jim enthusiatically responded, "Yes! Most definately! When do I start?"
"Well, you can start now. You can take the afternoon off to go to the training session in two hours. You will watch a series of videos and listen to some speakers that will inform you more about your new position. I will see you tomorrow Jim. You are now dismissed."
"Thank you so much, Miss Everts. I will see you tomorrow." Jim stood and left the office.
