Donna got ready, coiled, and sprung onto the ledge. The strange wall-panel released her as her feet left its surface, and she flew through the air to land on the ledge with the spiked block hanging over it. She looked around.
"Now what do I do...AH!" She spied another one of those large, round blue switches. "I'll bet this'll make the panels move again so I can walk to a higher ledge." She stepped on the button.
CRUNCH.
Donna looked around the room, but the panels had not moved at all. What the...? Had the button done anything at all?
CRUNCH.
She looked up just in time to see what the button had done--it had made the huge stone slab, studded with rusty metal spikes, above her head start moving downwards! The loud crunch sounds were the result of stone grinding against stone.
What do I do NOW?! wondered Donna to herself, a bit panicked. She hit the button again but it did nothing; the stone block continued to descend. Can I climb the wall without the panels? No. They were too smooth and provided absolutely no handholds. Then how about I jump? She peered over the edge, but the drop was almost 50 feet and nothing but solid stone to land on.
While she was measuring the distance and trying to figure out whether it was better to be squished or to fall, the lowering spiked block above her head went down just ONE more foot and decided the question for her.
Ick.
