Jim slunk quickly to the changing-rooms area, trying to make as little noise as possible on the rough floor. Once there, he peered inside - sure enough, each room was divided into a handful of cubicles, each provided with a bench, mirror and hook. Jim slipped into the leftmost cubicle, still listening intently for any sign of - well, he was the intruder, so, any sign of an interruption.
Swallowing hard, Jim pulled the head from the S-Mart bag and, after staring hard at the flawless duplicate of his old roomate's face for a moment, yanked the styrofoam stand out from within it. "Carrie's face" immediately went floppy - though heavier than Jim had been expecting.
He turned the empty flesh over and over in his hands. There seemed to be no zippers, or velcro, or whatever... just the usual holes in a head plus one extra making up the bottom of "her" neck.
Turning towards the mirror, Jim placed his fingers in this opening and stretched outwards. The material was quite stretchy - More like nylon than latex! Jim thought - and opened easily wide enough to accomodate the top of his head. Watching in the mirror as best he could, Jim stuck his head into the opening and began pulling down.
This is silly! Jim thought, his vision obscured by the neck of the mask as he brought Carrie's head down over his own, This can't possibly fit me!
But the chin slipped into place... a moment's fiddling, and the nose did likewise... then the eyes-
Jim stopped dead. He could see out again, and was stunned by what he saw. The mask was bunched and gathered in places, but where it was smooth was a nearly flawless illusion of a woman's skin!
Jim watched, dumbfounded, as he smoothed out the face over his own. Better and better Carrie's face looked, until as he finally fidgeted her delicate left ear into place - somehow! - over his own, Jim was staring not at his own reflection, but at that of Carolyn Anne MacAllister James... who had somehow acquired the body of a youngish man along the way!
"My God..." Jim breathed - then realized it wasn't even his voice any more, but Carrie's! He ran his hands through her long red hair, smiled, pouted, stuck out his (her?) tongue - but nothing broke the illusion!
Jim even blew kisses at himself in the mirror, but then...
