Jim Gets a Big Hand

Unending BE - episode 62350

Jim hadn't seen Ricardo shiver so much since he relieved Ricardo of his clothes up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. "It's creepy I tell you," Ricardo shuddered. "Something strange happened in the commissary yesterday. Only one witness, but he said he saw a huge hand come out of the kettle of beef stew and grabbed some guy and dragged him into the pot. And now, the only guy who didn't show up for work today is our buddy Ralph," Ricardo said. Jim sneered. "The witness must have been full of hops," Jim said. As Jim and Ricardo walked to lunch, Ricardo spotted the head of the Universal script department. Ricardo began to pitch a story to him. "Okay, it's the future, say July 1969. And three guys fly this rocket ship off the Earth and land on the moon," Ricardo said. "Story's got possibilities. What problems to these guys encounter on the way up, and what space monsters to do meet on the moon?" the script man asked. "Well, nothing goes wrong between the Earth and the moon, and there is nothing on the moon. It's a dead sphere," Ricardo answered. "Then who'd want to see that story? You just have no idea what excites people," the script man demured. At the commissary, a sign read: "Special Today! Pepper Pot Soup." "Sounds like a lot of tripe to me," Jim said, although Ricardo didn't know if Jim was referring to the soup or his story idea. As they neared the soup pot, a loud SPLOOOOSH was heard, followed by the emergence of a giant hand (wearing the world's largest waterproof Bulova wristwatch). It snatched...

  1. Jim, who struggled hard not to end up in the soup
  2. Ricardo, who tried biting the hand (we hadn't had breakfast that day)
  3. *Sharon L'amore, who screamed like Fay Wray in King Kong's mitt
  4. the script man (the hand belonged to the film critic of the Los Angeles Examiner)
