Sharon blinked away the tears that were leaking out of her eyes. Oh Jim! You've
done so much more for me than you can know! She resolved to tell him that
when he got back.
In the meantime, there was breakfast to get! She found that her appetite and tastes
hadn't changed noticeably- although the food's taste was a lot stronger, she
had a better sense of smell. She found herself swishing her tail in sheer happiness
as she felt the sunlight from the patio hit it. She sighed. There was going to
be so much to learn about this new body- but it wasn't bad, she hastily added to
that thought.
When Jim got back it was almost time for dinner and Sharon was getting a bit worried.
She'd finally managed to alter a dress to fit- it looked funny but it at least
covered things up.
"Jim!" she ran to him and gave him a quick hug and kiss. "What news? When can
we..." she stopped as she saw the look on his face. Jim looked tired and a bit
discouraged.
"Hello, there, furry lady," he said, a grin of pleasure lighting his face. He
gave her a hug back, but then let her go and plopped down on the sofa with a
sigh.
"Things didn't go as well as I'd hoped. There's a waiting period after you
get a license, and to get one we'd need photo id."
"That's ok, I have my driver's---" Sharon stopped as the reality of her change
hit her again. "oh."
Jim nodded. "I wasn't sure if that'd work or not, just saying you were in costume.
I asked around about something quicker and easier. It looks like the best thing
we can go is get a civil service in Las Vegas."
"Oh dear."
"I got some tickets, though, so we'll be flying out tomorrow at 11."
"Oh! But that's wonderful!" Another thought suddenly struck her. "But I have
to get new clothes-- and they'll have to be custom made." She swished her tail
to make the point.
Jim saw what she meant. "We can do that this afternoon, then. I don't know where
you'd go for that, though..."
