The sky was pink under the red light of a huge sun, reflecting off alien towers that looked almost like natural rock formations. Objects flitted through the air, and one drifted close, revealing a lady with long bright red hair, a simple white gown that shone pink, and features that were too pointed to be human.
That was, of course, because Aretha wasn't human. Humans thought of her as a genie. She thought of herself as... herself. Aretha didn't waste any time worrying about racial identity, and even her name was subject to her whims. The one constant in her life was creating chaos- she loved tangling the fate threads in more limited dimensions.
A familiar but long-delayed chime sounded and Aretha quickly flitted over to a rock outcropping that revealed a clear crystal mounted in the top of it. Reaching out long slender fingers, Aretha lightly touched the crystal and probed the fate lines at its far end. Ohhh, this was juicy. VERY juicy.
She remembered this world now. A dull little place, but it had such easily-influenced beings in it. They were so fun to play with! But then they had started keeping her jewel in metal boxes and almost no one came even close to it. How boring. Now, things were looking up. A bit of scrying revealed at least two good candidates for takeover. One was a male that was just dressed as a female, but the other was a male identity in a magically created female body. Ohhh that one would be fun!
A bit of remote influence helped get that second one closer to her crystal and Aretha peered in eagerly, awaiting her chance to once again invade the 'drab little world' called Earth....
