Mary was walking with her new best friend Anju and Matt. Though she had only just met them she already had the feeling that she was going to like him. It was like when her and Anju met only she seem to hit off almost instantly with Matt. She liked being with them as she was smiling happily. She might not have found Bluestone yet but now she has not just a friend but a best friend at that. Something she thought that she would never have as even when she was Queen of her people she did not have any friends just followers and subjects. Not even Oberon’s father was her friend just another follower….she thinks as she really can not even recall who her son’s father is nor has he ever seem to wonder about himself.
“Deadbeat Dad” Mary shout out all of sudden
“Interesting” Anju said look at her new best friend.
“Just my random outburst. Pay no mind to it” Mary said not wanting them to think that she meant something behind it this time.
“So Matt what are we going to do now?” Anju asked as she looked at her father eagerly.
“Yes, What are we going to do now?” Mary asked also looking eagerly too.
Though he did not bring it up before he did notice that Mary looked older the Anju. So Matt wonder just how older his daughter’s best friend was exactly.
“Say Mary do you work here as the staff seem to know you” Matt said as he notice how they greet her when they walked by them but did say anything about how she was not working. In fact she was playing with Anju when he found so was she on break or something.
“Ummm….I….that is say….ummm….I” Mary began stumbling over her words as this person seem very important to Anju thus she did not want to use her magic on him or her best friend without letting them know first.
“Possibility of shift completion” Anju suggested in her robotic tone
“Yes that it be right back” Mary said as she ran off to find a staff member that she then used her magic on convince them and the rest of the staff that her shift had ended already.
Returning Mary waved to the staff member that told her to have a good day and what not.
“Adventure” she said as she grabbed Matt’s hand him not such if that was one of her random outburst or what she actually meant to say at the moment.
When she did so Matt felt a jolt run through him as all of sudden the answer to his question about her age from earlier was something that he seem to know the answer too.
“Are you eighteen?” he asked her to which Mary nodded as that the age she was passing her off as with her current human disguise. Pleased that the age she was going for was what she appeared like to him to the point where she did not question how he knew that.
“Really, I am fourteen” Anju said which was true in a sense since she did have the body and mind of one after all despite her being far older in reality.
Just watching the two now talking adamantly about their age gap and how cool it was that they were only four years apart in age. Matt felt this desire to protect the two of them from harm. Though he was still worried about Elisa and the others. Now that he had Anju and strangely enough Mary by his side now and they were now his focus. With Anju this desire made since as she was his daughter and what father would not want to protect their ch1ld. However Mary was interesting as there was similar yet very different feel from her.
Whatever it was Matt was sure of one thing that he wanted to make sure that Anju and Mary were happy as he felt that both of them deserved that.
