You are exactly right sparks! If I can be perfectly honest, I really don't know a thing about Texas (or really American) geography, so I based this small city to be like Victoria Texas simply because the demographics sounded about right on Wikipedia (haven't even been there so I can't have any actual opinion of the place), plus it was close to the other major cities too. I should state that it isn't Victoria Texas but generic small city without a name, as I want people to have flexibility to explaining the town.
Thanks for the comment though, and I would love to see you write option three, see what kind of humiliation the inflated Lilly in heels can get into!
Cool. I've been through Texas twice on long road trips in college, but I've never been to Victoria. One of my best friends is from Austin, so I stopped there on the second trip. Its the only part of Texas I can identify as anything other than hot and flat.

Yeah I have only been to Austin as well, and as anyone will tell you there, there is no place less like Texas than Austin! Anyways can't wait to read, and please keep on giving feedback on any ideas or criticism you might have!
