“What do I do? What do I do? Is there anything I can do. Maybe it’s not my place to do anything, but I have to do something.”
Hinata paced back and forth, mumbling to herself. The sound of her talking to herself was at least partially drowned out by Naruto’s snoring. “How can he be asleep?” She wondered out loud.
A little snot bubble inflated and deflated off Naruto’s nose, and only Hinata could find that cute about him.
Hinata and Naruto were entered as teammates in a tournament. It was a tournament like none that came before. Every contestant possessed their own deck of magic trading cards. Each card represented a skill or characteristic of the owner. In a few minutes Naruto would be called to fight Negi, Hinata’s brother, and the winner would get to trade the cards of his choosing.
Neji wouldn’t be satisfied just beating Naruto, no he would take something important from Naruto. He might take his confidence, or his determination. Maybe he would steal his good looks, or his manhood. The possibilities were endless. (Actually there were 54 cards in a starter deck but Hinata’s worries were endless.)
Naruto was confident, too confident. Of course he wasn’t being lazy, necessarily. He overtrained before the fight, and sleep was what he needed most to recover.
His deck was just sitting on the table, teeting close to the edge. Anyone could look at or grab his cards. Hinata knew it was wrong, but she had to look… she had to know. Perhaps Naruto has a secret weapon, a skill that can counter Negi’s Byakugan.
She checked card after card, but there was nothing of the sort; then an Idea occurred to her.
“Maybe I can give him my Byakugan card. He wouldn’t even know, and mastery of the technique. Perhaps his crazy amount of chakra mixed with a matched skill would make it usesless against him. Oh, but wait, if I give him my byakugan, the I need to take one of his cards. That’s how they work.”
“If I give him by Byakugan then what do I take?”
