ASTRAL PLANE, MARVEL UNIVERSE, FALL 2000//Khonshu, the Heliopolitan moon god, conferred with Marc Spector in his dreams. The former introduced the latter to the Phantom Stranger, and explained how Seth the death-god had been manipulated into helping build a threat to the entire multiverse.
"This information I have gained from Edward Brock, whose kaa (astral body) has been placed in the body of N'kantu the Living Mummy, and vice-versa. Your mission, my Knight of Vengeance, is to save the lives momentarily most endangered by this!" Whereupon, Khonshu materialized images of Cassie Lang and Rachel Carpenter...about to be killed by Crossbones. Marc Spector agreed, and the next thing he knew, he was in the Red Skull's HQ, in full costume (courtesy of the Phantom Stranger).
"WHAT THE F...?" Crossbones started to exclaim, before Moon-Knight interrupted him, with a right hook to the jaw! That started a round of fighting that Crossbones hadn't seen his first "altercation" with Captain America. The former gave as good as he got, but Moon-Knight finally won out (which was fortunate, for him, because by that point he was getting exhausted).
"Congratulations, Moon-Knight!" said the Phantom Stranger. The former thanked him, before gasping out: "What now?" PS replied: "First, we get these children back to their parents. Then, we mus seek out the corporeal body of Eddie Brock. For, after three millenia as a glorified half-corpse, N'kantu may not be amenable to leaving his new host."
