It was a quiet morning. The sun slowly rose above the horizon and sendt the first rays of light over the city of Mitakihara. These that had to work during the night felt relieved at their shifts coming to an end soon. Birdsong trilled throughout the streets as the winged animals greeted the great light above and welcomed the new day.

It was to such a melody that Madoka met the new day. Her eyes flitted open and a contented serene smile drifted upon her face. She rose and stretched out her arms, rolled out of bed and gaily skipped out the hallway and to the bathroom with her own humming joining in the sweet and gentle morning orchestra. Pulling the toothbrush from its stand, she continued quietly humming even as she put the toothpaste on it.

And thus the morning went. After cleaning her teeth came fixing her bed hair until it was presentable for school. A few more minor matters, like checking whether she had gotten any messages on her phone and she was almost ready for the day.

Except for her attire, which was still her adorable yellow pajama with little hearts all over it.

Although many of her classmates would have squeed at how cute she looked in this outfit, it was most certainly not something she wanted to wear in class! So the last step on her journey to get ready for school lay with her wardrobe. She flung it open wide so she could get to her school uniform -

"All hail Madoka! Queen of Tenta-"

And closed it right back up again. A bead of sweat ran down the side of her face, but her expression didn't change at all. Not even to blink. She hadn't seen that. She hadn't just seen that. It was a dream. She was day-dreaming again. Ahahaha. There was no purple octopus creature sitting in her closet. It didn't have cute bright eyes. Well, of course it didn't because it wasn't there in the first place. So she stopped being silly and opened it up again.

“Ahem! All hail Madoka! Queen of Te-”

The door closed even faster than the first time, the sound of wood hitting wood echoing through her room and muffling the words of.. her hallucination through the door. Yes, she was just imagining that creature, because something like that couldn’t exist! Real octopuses were small animals that got cooked into tasty treats. Not man-sized beings with big bright eyes, a large smiling mouth and strangely cute looking tentacles.

And they certainly did not speak, or call her a queen!

Madoka took a deep breath, trying to calm down from what had happened. No, what had not happened and was just going on in her mind!

Just as she started to maybe have some success, a big purple tentacle pushed the wardrobe open. The bright eyes of the creature gazed out at her, looking like they weren’t quite sure if they should speak up.

“Pardon me your majesty, is it alright if I hail you?” It finally asked.

“Nooooo!” Madoka nearly screeched under her breath, showing just how much this was getting to her. She normally almost never got angry at anyone, but this was enough to make even her drop the nice girl act.

The tentacle monster, which absolutely did not exist, flinched and looked at her in a manner not unlike a kicked puppy. Ah, and now she was feeling bad about what she said and wanted to apologize. No! She couldn’t give in to her delusion, that way lay madness.

“Ahhh..” The creature looked at her hesitantly again, then it seemed like a sudden idea hit it.

“Oh, I know what your majesty needs. A nice massage.” Madoka blinked at these words, but before she could say anything the being opened the door fully. The purple tentacle monster stepped out of her wardrobe, then rose up to its full size and the pinkette found her neck craning a little.

It had looked smaller when it was in the wardrobe! Also, these were a lot of tentacles, why had she not seen them right away? They couldn't have all fit inside, there wasn't nearly enough room! Oh gosh they were still coming. How many of them were -

One fell across her left shoulder, and another onto her right. They began to rub and squeeze in a peculiarly reassuring way. All of Madoka's tension drained right out of her, and her legs nearly gave away on the spot.

“Huh?” Was her eloquent answer as the many, many tentacles kept rubbing over her. For a moment she had been worried that this would turn into some kind of erotic dream, but the limbs massaging her body weren’t touching any truly inappropriate spots. Regardless, with the way that all her muscles were relaxing regardless of her wishes, it was rather difficult to keep standing.

“Ah, please let me deal with that your highness.” With these words, the tentacled creature winded a particularly thick tentacle around her hips and pulled her a few inches into the air.

“Ehh.. this is really. ohhh.. nice of you.” Said Madoka, having give up on trying to dismiss this whole event as an hallucination. Rather, this seemed more like some kind of bizarre dream, one that would keep going regardless of what she did.

“B.. but I really have to go to school and.. ohhh!” A smaller tentacle had slipped under her pajama and started massaging her back directly. It was a little slimy, but not unpleasant at all! If she had any experience in such matters, she probably would have compared it with massage oil.

“Oh, don’t worry your majesty. I can organize instant transportation to your education facilities. This will not interfere with your schooling at all!”

That was a relief... wait, was it really? A crick in her neck popped, and she decided that yes, it very much was a relief.

“I have been told that I am rather good at massages your highness, I hope you enjoy it. Let me start something else.”

With these words, the tentacle monster, and she really needed another name for it soon, pulled a dusty old tome from.. somewhere. She really didn’t want to think about where it got it from.

“First thing’s first, we need to teach you how to summon your own tentacles.” Said the being while opening the book with another tentacle and starting to leaf through it calmly. Even while this was happening, many other tentacles continued to give Madoka’s body the attention it deserved. Even her hands and feet were being gently caressed by tiny tentacles that seemed to divide from a bigger tentacle at will.

“Ehh? What?” The pinkette asked in confusion, wondering whether she had misheard due to how everything was feeling just so heavenly. There were muscles relaxing in her body she didn’t even know she had!

At the same time, the creature stopped leaving through the dusty tome and gave a sound of approval. Apparently it had found what it was searching for.

“Well your highness, you may have this form now, but your soul is still the same. The power of the royal family is strong enough to not be bothered by such minor things like the cycle of reincarnation.” Madoka blinked, then wondered if she was hallucinating inside a dream. Because what she had heard made no sense even by the already weird standards of this whole thing.

“W.. what d.. do you m.. mean?” She asked, having a little trouble articulating herself. It was like even her tongue was starting to lose its strength. And she was also starting to feel kind of hot, like someone had turned on the heating.

The looked at her limbly hanging form and its giant cute eyes blinked adorably. Madoka couldn’t understand how such a huge tentacled creature could also be so huggable.

“Oh, dear oh dear, your memories of your past life still haven't surfaced? No wonder you were so tense before." The purple octopus-like being lifted one tentacle to its head and did something that looked vaguely like rubbing its chin. Even though Madoka wasn’t quite sure where exactly its head ended and the rest of its body began.

“In that case, it may be better to begin with a history lesson. Let’s see, there is a chapter in the book on that in this book.” Once again the creature, and now Madoka really had enough with not knowing what to call it, started to look through the dusty tome.

“E. excuse.. m.. me.. b.. but what should I.. c.. call you?” She said, her tongue feeling like it was also being massaged by now. It was strange, but even though not a single tentacle had touched an inappropriate part of her body, she was starting to tingle everywhere. And while she didn’t notice it, her nipples had become visibly erect through her pajama and were all but begging for attention.

“Oh to be asked for my name by her highness.” Then suddenly the being seemed to stop acting serious and instead started sounding to be on the verge of tears. “I.. I am Aasulox, the court wizard of the Yeomor Kingdom.” He stopped at that, looking at Madoka while still seeming like he could break out in tears any moment. “Ah, with this I of course mean your kingdom your highness.”

At Madoka’s immediate look of confusion, the newly introduced tentacle monster bumped itself over the head with another tentacle.

“Ah of course, the memories. My apologies. Let’s get right to this.” Looking down at the dusty tome again, Aasulox lifted one tentacle to help him with reading. Then his voice started again, but there was a new undertone to it.

“Once upon a time, there were two realms between which there was a frail peace. One of these was the Empire of Avalon, where the humans lived and prospered, guarded by young maiden gifted with grand magic power. Each of them a pure light shining bright as a star in the darkness. The other was the Kingdom of Yeomor, where our kind lived and propagated. Where among humans only few had magic, we were gifted with natural powers beyond their kind. But few could compare to the great maiden's protecting mankind.

Our kind does not need food like humans, just the mana in the air is enough to satisfy us. But when we met humans for the first time, we discovered a new and unique affinity. To us they were wonderful beings, their pleasure tasting like the greatest of aphrodisiac. But the humans were disgusted by us, unwilling to converse, much less let one of us touch them intimately.

Unsatisfied with this, many of us spent the following years using magic to modify our bodies. Our tentacles were changed from strong grasping tools into something that could melt a woman’s mind. Our secretions become a drink of lust, able to incite desire in anyone they touched. Many more extreme changes our kind made to their bodies until they were no longer about merely ensnaring others with honey and sweet words, but with bonds and fetters.

The more the humans refused contact, the more extreme many major groups among us become. After many border conflicts and ever rising tension, a group of our kind attacked a human settlement. And thus their careless actions brought about doom, calling the maidens to guard mankind.

Fearsome and mighty these girls were, beautiful as the sky and the ocean, blessed with powers so great it shook the earth below. They destroyed the perpetrators and a path of destruction opened where they walked. Our army did what it could, but their power and numbers were too great. Few victories were had in these days and all feared our end.

And then there was a princess among us. She was beloved, for she was kind and loved the people and had cared for the nation with all her heart. They say she shed many tears over all the lives lost on both sides. And when the holy maidens came to destroy the capital, she went out alone to beg for peace and forgiveness.

But such a thing was impossible. Mankind couldn’t forgive and forget, and even on the brink of doom we couldn’t forget our desires. Surely, should peace return the same situation would happen again sooner or later.

Thus the princess used her magic for a forbidden spell. She sealed away our kingdom, hiding it behind the shadows and the darkness so that we may live forever without the temptation of humanity. And so that mankind may be save of our allure. But the price for that magic was great, for her life was forfeit at the same time!

Yet at this time, the maidens took pity on her, acknowledging her kind and loving heart. With all their magic, they blessed her spirit so that she may be reborn one day so she may have another chance at happiness.”

With a thud the dusty old tome was closed and Aasulox stopped speaking. Madoka shook her head, feeling almost like she was coming out of a trance. The purple tentacle monster’s words had been so powerful. While it was speaking, she had totally forgotten her situation.

“Ahh.. I.. I am not sure.. I und.. understand?” She asked, feeling heady and feeling hot all over her body.

"You, Madoka! You are that Queen of Tentacles reborn!"

“Wha?” This brought Madoka out of her stupor. Her mouth opened, then closed, only for this to repeat over and over as she tried to process what Aasulox had just said. Finally she opened her mouth for the last time and loudly screamed.

“Noooo that cannot be!!!” The pinkette flailed her arms ineffectual, still not having much strength regardless of new emotional high. But more importantly, the shadow below her started to turn a much deeper black, before bubbling like soup. Then without another warning, a torrent of tentacles exploded from it towards Madoka.

Immediately the pink-haired girl was surrounded by a curtain of tentacles. Some of them moved to support her and others were seemingly fusing with her body, becoming like another limb for her. Immediately Aasulox pulled his own tentacles away from her and after a few very confusing moments Madoka found herself floating a little above the ground, held in place by a ton of tentacles that had appeared from her shadows.

The pinkette looked down at herself, then stayed silent for a few seconds while trying to understand what had just happened. Finally it seemed that she reached a sort of breaking point because she just quietly sighed and then spoke up.

"Oh well, I guess this is how things are now."

“Yay, your majesty!” Madoka watched with a strange sense of amusement as the tentacled creature in front of her did what looked very much like a fist pump. But you know, with a dozen tentacles instead

"Ooh, this feels strange," Madoka said. "Strange, but also oddly liberating."

Aasulox turned back his full attention towards the pink-haired girl and the smile on his alien face grew wider. “That is absolutely normal your highness. Your tentacles are a natural part of your spiritual make-up and having them back naturally relieving.”

Madoka had stopped listening by this point as she'd just learned how to do what tentacle creatures call the "ferris wheel".

“Kyaahh!” Madoka squeed while rising up into the air, then turning around like she were making a somersault in air. After a few seconds, she increased the speed and the ferris wheel soon turned into a roller coaster. “Yeeaahhh!”

“Ohhh.. ehh?” Aasulox said while watching the pink-haired girl with a slightly awkward look. Finally he seemed to manage to put some of his thoughts into words.

“Excuse me your highness, I wouldn’t dare to interrupt your reacquainting with our capabilities, but weren’t you worried about getting to your education facility in time?”

This caused Madoka to stop. After a moment, she shook her head, then looked at Aasulox again somewhat confusedly. Finally she looked down and noticed that she was indeed positioned upside down and held in place by a number of her new tentacles. Now that she had these, being up in the air felt as easy as walking on the ground, if not more so.

“Ooops..” She said while adjusting her position. Then Madoka suddenly remembered what the other person present had said and quickly turned her head and looked at the clock.

“Oh no! I am going to be late!” She declared in panic.

“No no, don’t worry your highness. I said it already, I can deal with instant transportation. Teleportation is one of my best spells.” Aasulox said, his tentacles raised to calm Madoka down again.

“Huh.. is that so?” The pinkette said, slowly stopping panicking. Only for something entirely new to come to mind. “Wait, how am I going to explain this to my classmates?” She said while pointing at her now tentacle clad body.

“Well that shouldn’t be a problem your highness. These tentacles aren’t physical, but spiritual. As such you simply have to will them to fade away and that should be enough.”

Madoka wasn’t quite sure what to think of this, but after a moment decided to give it a try.

“Just concentrate on them going back where they came from?” She imagined it and found it surprisingly easy as the tentacles immediately started to shrink. Slowly they vanished, some back into her shadow and others simply melting into her body like they were part of it. A few seconds later and Madoka was standing again on her own feet, feeling oddly uncomfortable.

It was somewhat strange grabbing her clothes for school after what just happened. But the world doesn’t stop turning just because you find out that you are the reincarnation of a tentacle monster princess.

“If you would please leave the room?” Madoka wasn’t quite sure if she should be bothered from being watched changing by a giant squid creature. But decided that better safe than sorry was the right choice here.

“Oh yes of course.” After she had asked that, Aasulox quickly stepped back into her wardrobe and waited until she was ready.

Finally everything was done and the pinkette and her new.. friend? Yes, let’s call him a friend for now, he was going to get her to school.
