Meredith did not return for the rest of the show. Joy continued to crack really lame jokes, and Star returned but could not make any pity comments. Lisa was the only one still on her game. The show came to a merciful end. The producer showed up and read the riot act to Joy and Star. Meredith finally emerged from her dressing room. Her hair was disheveled and she was flush. The producer pulled her aside and let into her. Lisa went over to Johnny.
"I wonder what got into them today," she said.
"Maybe they didn't take their hot flash medicine or something," replied Johnny. "Why don't we slip out and grab a bite to eat?"
"That sounds great!" The two quietly left and drove to a nearby cafe. It was a posh place, dimly lit, with red and white checkered table clothes, fresh flowers on the tables, soft italian music playing, and neatly dressed waiters and waitresses. The two got a booth and perused the menus. A pair of well dressed ladies sat at a nearby table. They were both in their early forties. One had curly brunette hair tied in a busy pony tail. She had brown eyes and was wearing gray slacks, a white long sleeve blouse and a gray vest. The other had short auburn hair, green eyes, and was wearing a black knee length skirt and a red blouse. Johnny and Lisa could overhear their conversation.
"I'm telling you, Linda," said the brunette, "if we let those nouveau riche O'Briens in the club then soon we'll be letting any blue collar, dirt under the nails, community college educated people in." "But Mimi," said the other, "the O'Briens are respectable people. They may not have Ivy League credentials, but Tad's business does make over ten million a year, and he did build it from the ground up. You know...."
Mimi cut her off, "Linda, the club is for people like us, I bet they don't even know what a fish knife is for." The conversation continued.
Johnny leaned over to Lisa, "Don't you hate snobs like that?"
Lisa whispered back, "Yeah, some people need to lighten up and get some humility."
That gave Johnny an idea. He excused himself and headed to the men's room. On his way back, he caught Mimi's eye and sent her a few commands as the bracelet heated up. He returned to his table. He and Lisa talked about the weird goings on on the View today. Johnny looked up and saw Linda and Mimi's lunch arrive. Mimi had ordered a grilled breast of chicken covered in mozerrella and parmesand cheese, mushrooms, and tomato sauce and served on a bed of angel hair pasta. Linda had ordered a shrimp salad. Johnny watched out of the corner of his eye as his command took effect. Mimi reached down and picked the chicken breast up with her hand. She started to wolf it down as the sauce and mushrooms dripped onto her vest and pants.
"Mimi!" said Linda in a loud whisper, "What are you doing?" Linda blushed, being embarrassed by her friend's behavior.
"Um, humgry" Mimi mumbled through a mouthful of chicken and cheese. She stuffed the last of the chicken breast in her mouth. Her lips were smeared with sauce. She then took a handful of the pasta and raised it to her mouth. She forced as much in as she could, while the rest slinked down on her chest and pants. The rest of the cafe's patrons were now all staring at her.
