Already wondering if this should expand to allergies, so for example, cat allergies make people go part feline. Formerly terminal diseases are only bad because the changes are permanent but not fatal. Nasty virus from the african jungle, named Ebimbo...85% permanence rate it's so potent.
If it's really retroactive, then you can only imagine what TF diseases devastated the native americans when the european colonists arrived that they had no resistance to.
