“So, what exactly does this prophecy say?” Alia asked. “Because this sounds less like a prophecy and more like some fetishistic nonsense.”

Sarufax sighed. “The prophecy in question states that the way to the Great Mother’s temple can only be opened by the appearance of an elven maiden who has been blessed by the goddess. And since the Great Mother is a goddess of motherhood, love, beauty, and fertility, among other things…”

“Big boobs, big belly, got it.” Alia groaned. “But why the lack of clothing?”

“Because the goddess, being a beautiful, fertile maiden herself, is often depicted in statues wearing next to nothing at all.”

“And how do we know that isn’t just because all of the statue makers are horny?”

“We don’t, actually.” Sarufax shrugged. “But the lack of clothing can’t hurt our chances, I suppose. Besides, its not the most unusual thing to be wearing at the beach anyway.” Sarufax motioned to the beachfront that stretched out before them, where many scantly clad elves were either playing or relaxing in the sun.

“I suppose not.” Alia sighed. “Though now that I look at it, your outfit is definitely a little weird here.” Alia observed. The elven wizard was wearing a deep purple cloak, with a hood that covered the upper half of her face.

“I wear this cloak because it has copious amounts of pockets in which I can carry my various magical implements.” Sarufax explained. “Also, I burn easy.”

“Makes sense, I guess.” Alia shrugged. “Anyway, what are we going to do now that you’ve dragged me here?”

“You are going to sit. I am going to search for the entrance to the temple.” Sarufax explained.

“And how do you plan to do that? And wait, you're just leaving me on my own?”

“The entrance is supposedly a platform of stone buried somewhere in the sands of this beach. Once the prophesized maiden stands on it, the way to the temple will open. Of course, I could have you search with me—”

“But my pregnancy would slow you down.” Alia finished. “So instead I can relax in the sun while you comb the beach all day.”

“If you wish to see it as such.” Sarufax responded. “I can’t imagine it will take too long, however.” As she spoke, she pulled out her staff from her robe and promptly stuck it in the sand. She then proceeded to pull out a towel, a sunhat, and a full-sized wooden umbrella, all of which she handed to Alia.

“Thank you?” Alia said, confused by her reasonability after how unreasonable she had been up until now.

“You’re welcome. Now, I would remind you that for you and your sister's sake, it would be unwise for you to run away.”

“I am quite literally too pregnant to run.”

“…Good.” Sarufax said curtly, before picking up her staff and walking away.

“Alright then.” Alia murmured to herself before turning back to the ocean. In the meantime, she should find a nice spot to lie down. Try as she might, there wasn't any way of waking her sister up without Sarufax's magic, so she was stuck here. And despite what the wizard said, it was probably going to be a while...
