Whether it was by accident or intention, or just for lack of time, the person on the phone hadn't mentioned that magic is more than just taking ten-plus years off your girlfriend's body and memories and having the best sex of your life as a consequence.
Having had that kind of magic done to her, Sharon was now magical.
To put it another way, she was fair game. The magical practitioners and creatures that normal folks assumed had vanished in the age of myth could now see and come after her... and the highway belongs to them as much as anybody.
