Victory-Gal had never felt more out of place as she sat in her neighbours garden and sipped on some tea. She had elected to join them and not activate her hypnosis. It was too risky at this stage, and she could always use it as a backup in case of emergencies. Still, she felt like a fool in her full superhero garb when the “ladies” were all dressed in similar looking frilly fifties style outfits.
“You absolutely need to join the Book Club!” Jessia said, giving Victory-Gal a smile that shone in the sun as she rubbed her pregnant belly, “Last time we read quite a saucy one right girls?”
“My yes,” A blonde haired woman in a blue dress said. This was Alice, and she seemed to be the ditziest of the bunch, always giggling and talking about kittens and puppies. “Why, I was red in the face by the time I finished!”
Victory-Gal wondered if it was actually “saucy” or just saucy by fifties standards. While the latter seemed likely, the way Alice's massive chest rested on the table the latter seemed just likely. Her breasts were the biggest there, and they seemed impossibly round and perfect. Victory-Gal idly wondered what it was like the have a pair like tha-
Nope, she wasn't going down that rabbit hole. Not when there looked to be no way back
“It gave me more than a few ideas~.” The white haired woman next to Alice said. Vera was the last member of their little group. She was apparently the town's librarian, though she dressed like the others and had the same curvaceous body as the rest of them. Her main distinguishing features were her glasses and the fact that her body more emphasized the ass than the breasts.
The conversation had mostly been like this, these ladies discussing the goings on in the neighbourhood with hints of their sex life no fifties show would ever produce. It hadn't gotten Victory-Gal any closer to her answers, yet being with them had led her to a shocking revelation.
They all had been scientists.
Prof. Jessica Samson, seventy years old, unmarried, famous Biochemist. Known workaholic and had grown more and more bitter as the years had passed her by.
Dr. Alice Miller, noted researcher in the field of robotics, unmarried and well into her fifties. Known for having a cold, clinical attitude to anything and everything.
Prof. Vera Valdez, researcher on folklore, mythology and the history of magic. She was in her late sixties and was also unmarried with no children. Seen as something of a recluse.
Victory-Gal knew this because she had read the files on them. These three women had disappeared months ago and now had been turned into these giggling housewives. It was a thought that quickened Victory-Gal's heartbeat, the idea that such intellectual titans could be brought so low. She needed to calm herself down and drink some tea.
“Already getting hot under the collar?” Jessica said with a sympathetic smile, “I know how newlyweds get. So prudish for the first couple of months. I must lend you a book on-”
“N-no no that's fine I um..well” Victory-Gal began.
Thankfully the doorbell rang just at that moment, saving Victory-Gal from what would have been a very awkward conversation.
“Oooh I'll get it!” Jessica said, almost squealing with delight, “I didn't think she'd come!”
“Oh my god you don't mean-!” Alice began.
“Shhhh don't ruin the surprise!” Vera said with another giggle.
Jessica got up, and despite the litter she was carrying around she was fast on her feet. Victory-Gal wondered what was going on, who could they be so excited for?
She soon got her answer, as Jessica strode back into the garden and cleared her throat. She looked like she was about to present royalty.
“Victory-Gal, I invited her but I didn't think she'd end up coming. She's a very busy woman you see,” Jessica explained, “Just know how lucky you are to meet…well lets just see her!”
Jessica moved away from the door and a woman stepped out. She looked like all the others, in a purple dress with huge breasts and a huge ass. Yet there was something different about her, her eyes seemed to sparkle with a cunning intelligence the others didn't have. Her features seemed sharper and her walk was more the stride of a woman who oozed confidence. It took Victory-Gal a few seconds to take her all in…
And when she did her blood ran cold.
“Lyla…Lockwood…”
She looked younger, and her usual bald scalp was now a mane of purple, eighties style hair but that was her alright. Lyla was a ruthless scientist and businesswoman who had been a thorn in superhero communities’ side for as long as Victory-Gal could remember. She was considered Major Victory's nemesis, and had sworn to destroy any and all who wore that mask.
Right now she was just greeting the others with cheek kisses and giggles. Still, Victory-Gal could feel her gaze on her. The hero knew in her gut that she must be the one who was certainly the one who was responsible for all of this! Hell it was probably some weird scheme to get her hair back for all she knew.
“I knew you'd be impressed, even out of towners know her,” Jessica said with a sigh, “The most successful woman in town, sweeping bake sales, book drives, everything. If our town is put on the map it will be because of her!’
Victory-Gal only nodded as her eyes fell on the strange pink box the woman was carrying. The letters “MJ” were stylised on it in embossed gold. Was that what she was using to convert people?
“Ah, where are my manners~?” Lyla said, her voice honeyed and seductive. She put a hand out to Victory-Gal, “You must be Victory-Gal correct? Welcome to the neighbourhood.”
“Y-yeah…” Victory Gal said, tentatively shaking her hand. Did she not recognise her, or was she just playing along. Victory-Gal figured she should play along just in case. If she revealed the town hadn't gotten her she could be in deep trouble.
“A little nervous? Don't worry, you'll soon fit right in!” Lyla said with a smile that seemed almost genuine.
Had the town gotten Lyla too? It was a possibility, but Victory-Gal still didn't want to let her guard down around her. Lyla confidently strode over to a chair at the head of their table and sat down, looking like a queen as she stared across to Victory-Gal. She smiled at her, which made Victory-Gal feel sick to her stomach.
“You must tell us the latest gossip Lyla!” Alice cried.
“Have you any recommendations for the library?” Vera asked.
“Please tell me you brought the cookie recipe from the last bake sale!” Jessica said, “Johnathan and I were like rabbits after tasting that!”
The girls flooded Lyla with questions, but the woman just smiled and threw up a hand for silence. The girls suddenly stopped talking, and Lyla looked at Victory-Gal with a piercing gaze.
“Now girls, I'm here to get to know one of our newest neighbours,” Lyla said, “And I'm sure she has questions for me. Please ask away. I don't mean to brag but I am a big wheel around here.”
Victory-Gal's heart jumped, this was a chance for her to interrogate Lyla. However, if her questions were too specific or gave away she wasn't being brainwashed that would be it for her. She tried to think of a question that would catch Lyla out but wouldn't reveal too much.
“Um…are you in…business?” Victory-Gal asked, hoping that would be enough.
There was a moment of silence as it seemed like Lyla was sizing her up. All of a sudden it felt like they were the only two people in that garden. Lyla reached down and picked up the pink briefcase she had carried in with her. Victory-Gal’s muscles tensed and got ready for action the second she sensed that Lyla was about to do something. Lyla opened the briefcase to reveal…
“You got me, number one Mary Jay saleswoman here~” Lyla said, presenting a briefcase filled with all kinds of makeup brushes, blush and other sorts of products. Victory-Gal felt a strange sense of relief wash over her. Lyla chuckled and said, “Don’t worry gals I have more than enough here for all of you
There was a collective gaggle of “oooohs” and “aaaaahs” from the girls around the table. Victory-Gal wondered if those products were what actually turned women into this. It made sense, all the women around her were heavily made up after all.
“Now, for my question to you,” Lyla said, giving Victory-Gal a winning smile, “I always feel a woman’s partner preference says a lot about her. Tell me…what’s you husband like?”
“Oh my yes, you haven’t mentioned him all morning!” Jessica gasped, as if Victory-Gal had committed a faux pax.”
“Or her,” Vera pointed out, “Women can be husbands too!”
“Well whatever it is, please tell us!” Alice said, her eyes shining bright.
Victory-Gal felt her heart sink, she could just make something up right now but it would be hard to do on the spot. That other personality that Mazakala had implanted into her could probably do it though. There was a risk in activating it now, but maybe it would wear off before she did something incredibly stupid. Taking a breath, Victory-Gal made her decision.
