Because that would alter the world cultuur and thus what for Princess is expected.
A Amazonian Princess has way other expectations then a more classic fairy tail Princess, like what we had here in Europe, back in the day.
Today that later one, is called future trofee(?) wife, I believe.
A setting like Warhammer 40k has different wants for a Princess, then say, Robin Hood.
Same for say, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.
And then we have not even talked about race, just culture.
A Mass Effect Asarir or a Star Wars Twi'lek Princess, will have quite different wants placed on themselves,in terms of how a Princess is supposed to behave themselves.
For all we know, Saif person wakes up as a D&D Drow Princess, thus duty bound to worship Loth.
So even good and bad can thus be turned upside down as well.
Heh, Ranma-chan as a Drow Princess, being made into a suductive, male devoring, back stabbing, Loth worshipping priestess, employing elegance, poison, magic, sex and so on.
Basically, everything she is not.
It's play along, escape or be reformated into a creature you would not see yourself, in, when kooking into the mirror.
Could be good, could be bad.
Ranma-chan somehow is part of the imperial family. I like the idea that so is Nodoka, but her being governess also makes sense as she partially inhabits that role canonically already.
But then there's also going to fukufic and making her a Sailor Senshi since the girls are princesses.
And then there's the already canon Picolet arc, where perhaps Rama fails in her bid at freedom using the parley school.
There are far too many fun ideas when Ranma crosses with this concept. xD

Fuku fic is an old and honorable tradition.
I always wondered where the pink hair of Chibi Moon came from. And now with Ranma 2/4 giving Ranma-0chan pink hair... Apparently Usagi passed her power on to Ranma which changed her hair to silver, and the duty of being the Moon princess combined with her sense of duty as a martial artist... Bonus points if Mamaru did the same to Ryoga. Though more likely Kuno, nothing like fixing psychosis by shoving another life's memories into the brain.
