While the two picked up and folded the suits they had shed one after the other like a strange cartoon, Alex explained to Mia what her father was up to. "You see Mia, what he's doing is branching his underworld organization into black market meat.", said Alex.
"But you and I would have been considered prey animals before our ancestors were changed into anthromorphs. Even humans won't eat us now.", said Mia in disbelief.
"In a perfect world, that would be true, but there are a group of carnivores out there who just want to savor the taste of real meat.", said Alex. "Many of them are willing to pay very high sums for the, uh...priveledge, I'd guess you'd call it."
"But why would father become involved in that. He wasn't always human, he was a rabbit morph like me and my sisters. Why would he do such a thing?", asked Mia.
"He's distancing himself from the dirtywork and he's casting doubt on his guilt. Who would believe an original herbivore would perpetuate such crimes for profit?", explained Alex.
"That's horrible! And those foxes working for him? They help him do this?", she asked.
"Absolutely. Reynard's into it up to his neck, and his sister isn't far behind. The only person who doesn't seem to know or care where Meiou gets his money is Andrea. She's to involved with herself and what she believes is her secret affair with Reynard.", said Alex.
"We have to get out of here.", said Mia. "I can't be a part of such a thing."
"I agree completely, and I know where we can go, but we need to sneak out of here so that your Dad's guards don't spot us. I have an idea..."
Alex sent Mia back down to her father's lab to get a copy of Reynard if there was one. For some reason, there was, and Mia rolled it up and raced back to her room with it. Alex raided Raven's overnight bag and Reynard's as well for clothing. Alex dressed up as Reynard, and Mia dressed up as Raven. The gathered up the other suits in their rooms and placed them in a suitcase (how appropriate)and prepared to leave.
The guard (a pitbull)looked up as the car approached the gate. He recognized the occupants and opened the gate while he waived the car through. Raven and Reynard were always coming and going at odd hours. As the car lurched onto the road and drove sporadically down the street, the guard just watched. "Raven must have had a few too many", he said outloud to himself. He shrugged his shoulders and went back to doing his crossword puzzle.
"You can't drive worth shit Sis", said 'Reynard' from the passenger seat.
"Hey, these suits didn't come with personality masks and memory reserves!", said 'Raven'.
"Yeah, you're dad wouldn't send me finished ones.", said 'Reynard'. "These copies of his henchman are for appearances only.", 'Reynard' grinned. "Do you suppose Meiou has sex in these?", he asked.
"Don't be gross!", said 'Raven'. "Tell me where I'm going."
'Reynard' gave 'Raven' directions to Connie's house...
