As Lizzie fell into the darkness, she reacted instinctively… Which is less usefull than it sounds, since half of her instincts just wanted to scream and flail randomly. Fortunately, the other half caused her wings to burst forth from her back, catching herself upon the air… Sort of. Glancing over her shoulder, Lizzie could see her wing flickering in and out of existence. The end result being a rather jarring slow of her descent, but not a stop. Lizzie tried to find D.J. somewhere in the dark, but her light spell had long snuffed out, and nothing could be seen anywhere, other than herself.
It was then that Lizzie landed, hard. Fortunately, her wings had reduced what could have been a bone-breaking fall to simply a bruising one. Coughing, she rose to a kneeling position on the floor, noting once again that she couldn’t see anything, including herself now. “Guys, you ok?” Silence. “Hello? D.J.? Lesley? Dabbler?” Still more silence. Feeling around on the floor, she noted the rough, natural-feeling stone, bits of dirt and loose chips of rock, but no warm bodies and nothing to provide light with. Considering the rather half-way existence of her wings, Lizzie wasn’t really ready to spray a steady stream of fire from her lips, in case the immunity to her own fire turned out to be similarly half-way-there.
So, she settled for trying to let her eyes adjust. And they did, eventually, allowing her to see that she was in an oblong cave of some sort, possibly a tunnel. Various stalagmites and stalagtites lined the sides, and between them, something moved. “Alright, who’s there?” Lizzie stood up, glaring towards where the shape had been last. “Trust me, you don’t want to see what I can do to you.” More movement, and the sound not unlike claws against stone. Assuming I still can… There seemed to be a lot more movement, now, on all sides…
Just as it seemed a few had decided to dare come closer, the shapes all seemed to turn and skitter away, vanishing within moments. Seconds later, Lizzie saw what they apparently were running from. Light, steadily coming towards here, clearly illuminating the fact that this was, indeed, a tunnel of some kind. As her eyes adjusted to the new light, she tried to focus on what was carrying it to her.
A single burning torch, in the hand of some humanoid creature. Yellowish-grey skin, runny face, large pale eyes, and overly large, pointed ears. The whole package screamed ‘goblin’, down to the ratty leather armor and disjointed gait. Smiling with rotting teeth, it looked Lizzie over. “Oi, looks like we found ourselves a new girl.” It glanced back towards his companion, a red-skinned blobbish mass that nearly filled the tunnel width. The head on top (with no neck at all) opened it’s wide mouth and gurgled something, a reply, perhaps. The goblin nodded. “Aye, she does look tasty, don’t she? Always thinking with yer stomach, ye are. You know that ain’t allowed. Well, come along, then.” It gestured to Lizzie, indicating to follow.
Her glare apparently made it quite clear she wasn’t exactly willing to go with them. Thinking things over briefly, the goblin smiled again. “Think of it this ways, girlie…”
