Mara walked to the end of the plank, standing at the center of the vast metallic spherical chamber. General Asmodeus had provided this device which at first simply seemed to be a room, and it was darkly amusing to consider that he had been inspired by, of all things, the device Cerebro used by Dr. Xavier in those X-Men comics and movies. As a distinct wicked play on the name "Cerebro," Asmodeus had dubbed this "Cerbero," for its service to wicked agendas, but the principle remained the same: the ability to make a planetwide survey of susceptible human souls.
Yet whereas Charles Xavier was concerned with mutant aptitude, Mara's job was now to locate 666 women the world over who were presumably "prime" enough for Jim the Incubus to breed with, thus fulfilling Mephistophelean destiny.
Mara sat in the chair at Cerbero's center, put on the headband, and began to concentrate, as around her Cerbero began to flicker to life.
