Sharon interrupted. "I won't be like this for long. Jim said the potion was only supposed to last for twenty-four hours."
"May I examine you?" asked Jay-La, and beckoned Sharon to stand in front of a scanning machine. A neat X-ray-type effect showed Sharon in the screen first without her clothes, then with her skin removed to reveal the muscles underneath, then they were gone, and one by one the internal organs, and then the bones, and the scan ended.
Jay-La asked Jim, "Do you know what was in the potion?"
"Of course," replied Jim. "I made it myself. It's mainly Plasticity Factor A, with a touch of trichloronium hydrate--"
"How much trichloronium hydrate?" interrupted Jay-La.
"Just a touch, like I said," replied Jim. "Enough to--"
"Enough, perhaps, to render the effect permanent?" asked Jay-La.
As Jim hesitated, Sharon interjected "Permanent!? You mean I'll be like this always?"
"I don't think so," Jim said. "That would take a lot of trichloronium hydrate."
"One thing is highly probable, I think," went on Jay-La. "And that is that the effect will last somewhat longer than just twenty-four of your hours."
