Sharon decided it was far too dangerous to wait around here. She had to find a way out. The floor of the cottage was nothing but hard packed dirt, and she thought she might have sa chance of burrowing out if she could find some sort of tool.
After a quick inspection, she located a discarded toothpick on the floor by the giant's table.
"This should work," she thought.
She found a remote corner of the cottage where she was unlikely to be noticed if the giant came home before she finished, and she began to dig.
The work was difficult, but once she got through the top few inches, the soil became much softer and her progress quickened. After about an hour she had a tunnel large enough to fit inside. She figured that once she got past the cottage wall, it would be a simple matter claw her way back up to the surface. She tossed aside the toothpick and dove head first into the hole, digging wqith her hands as she went.
She was about ready to turn upwards and try to break through to daylight, when she felt the earth shift under her.
"Uh oh," she thought.
The florr beneath her suddenly gave way and she found herself falling. Fortunately, the ground was soft and moist and she was not injured upon her landing. It took her a moment to catch her breath. She looked up and saw...
