If there was someone who wasn't a troublemaker, it was Kasumi. She was one of the ones who naturally kept house, and he knew that if she were given the choice, she would happily do so for as long as she was allowed to. To her, it was a source of enjoyment and pride, and Soun knew that she would be rather dutiful towards any master or mistress who would take her. Of course, given her skills, she would have likely wound up as the housekeeper for a family, the maid for a working single person, or as the domestic companion for a college student.
Still, her skills would serve Ash well, what with her ability to run a household, and stay in the background. So long as she was allowed to keep things running as smoothly and cleanly as possible, she was happy, and didn't mind allowing others to take charge of other matters. So, she could be a great support for Ash, who could concentrate on battling, rather than having to waste time doing laundry, or making the best out of the food that he could carry.

As Shieldmaiden (aka Shield) is only found when a human and a Psychic type pokegirl have a ch1ld, Shieldmaiden is rare though the numbers are slowly climbing. Shieldmaiden is an extremely handy pokegirl to have around, her abilities to produce forcefields and harden both her own armor and to Armor her Tamer make Shieldmaiden much sought after.
Okay, so Kasumi did have more to offer a Tamer than just a home cooked meal, but she did happen to be more like an Inguene than her real time. In fact, people tended to mistake her for one all the time, what with her constantly gentle air. But he wasn't going to allow her to simply fade into being stuck here, as this would allow her to create a home of her own, where everything would be set up by her own hands.
