Sean reached out his hand to brush the baby girl's hair. As his hand brushed her frizzy newborn hair, the baby turned her head ever so slightly. As his hand nestled her head amidst the blankets in the drawer, a bright flash startled Sean. The whiteness didn't fade, and a voice in the distance began to whisper. He strained, looking around, trying to find the voice in the white background.
The voice grew louder, revealing a man's voice, singing some sort of lullaby. Sean, confused by this tried to spin around again, but found his legs restrained by something wrapped around them. He tossed his head around, looking for the voice. As he looked back and forth, the whiteness slowly faded, revealing a young man looking right at him. Sean stared at his face, confused by what he was seeing... himself!
Fear twisted Sean's mind, realizing what had happened. He tried to yell, to jump back to his body, but the blanket was wrapped around him too tightly to move anything other than his head, and his throat only produced a high pitched wail. The fear grew and overwhelmed him, the wails continuing as tears begin to well in his eyes.
"Oh, poor thing. You must miss your mommy, don't you? Shhh. It's alright, it's alright, little Velma. Shhh, sweet little girl."
Sean's wails stopped as the words entered his ears. Little girl? I'm a girl, and a baby? The thought was too much, and he shut down. He let his eyes close, and the blackness closed over his mind.
When he awoke
