Meredith wished she could just lie down and die. Her body was exhausted not only from the journey but also from the level of fear that was rushing through her. After leaving the darkness and Crimson she had emerged into a plain that was utterly broken. It stretched as far as she could see broken only by giant cracks in the ground and rocking hills that were more like stone teeth than anything else. As she looked down on it, she saw dark black clouds swirling through the plains, much like the ones she had passed through. She didn’t know what do and where to go and felt helpless when she felt a tug. It wasn’t a physical sensation, more of a... a need to keep moving.

Collecting herself Meredith continued on deeper into the plains. She felt like she walked for hours but she had lost all sense of time, if someone had told her it had been ten minutes or ten years she would have believed them. A few times very far off in the distance she thought she saw someone following her, but only when she was at the top of a rise in the group of on a very flat stretch, a blonde woman she thought. But she was so scared of this place that she knew anything she met would not be pleasant and so she had no choice put to push on.

At last she topped a rise in the land steeper than any she had yet crossed and stopped. Below her wasn’t another featureless plain but the camp of an army, with fires and with other creatures moving around down there. She had found it at last. But the tugging pull had not let up and she was forced to start descending the ridge, slipping and sliding down it, sending showers of stones that alerted sentries.

She was greeted at the bottom by demons that were only about 4 feet high, they looked vaguely penguin like but were stitched at their joints and colored in green and red and black. They also bore nasty looking tridents that they brandished menacingly.

“I-I’m here to see someone. I-I’m not sure who. Asmodeous sent me.”

There were no response, but some of the creatures move to flank her.

“Oh, p-please,” she begged. “No I just need to see someone. He told me to! I... it was... it was the Wolf! He told me to see the Wolf!” she screamed relieved.

The smaller demons froze. Another demon was approaching; this one was human shaped with red skin and a white mask that covered its head. It was also naked and clearly male and it looked at her.

“T-the Wolf!” Meredith said nervously. She was shaking so hard now that any moment she expected to feel a warm wetness down her pants but instead of reacting the red-skinned demon merely turned with a wave of its hand and stalked towards the center of the camp.

The gesture was unmistakable, follow.
