Shrunken Sharon: Life in the Doll's House

Unending BE - episode 546494

Jim decided that he would have to wait for a good moment to tell Sharon the bad news. Meanwhile he let her think that he was making good progress.

The doll's house had been given to Sharon for her tenth birthday, but it was so beautiful and well constructed that she had never had the heart to get rid of it. Thus it still stood on a table in the corner of her bedroom.

Living in it, Sharon quickly realised that the facilities were rather primitive compared to what she was used to. There was no electricity - so even had domestic appliances been available at an appropriate size they wouldn't have worked. And of course there was no mains water or plumbing.

Every morning, Jim would heat a soup bowl full of water up to a comfortable temperature so that she could take a bath. An eggcup served her as a commode. Jim was also responsible for her meals, though getting the timing right when cooking such tiny amounts proved tricky.

She could exit the front door of the doll's house whenever she wished, but she had no way of getting off the table top on which it was placed. Jim said that it would be too dangerous for him to let her have the run of her (full-sized) bedroom during the day. She might get stepped on for instance. Sharon suspected that he rather liked keeping her as his helpless pet.

Her bihhest problem was boredom when he was not around. Even reading wasn't possible, since books and magazines were far too big for her.

  1. At least he had supplied her with some clothes in her size.
  2. He had supplied her with some clothing, but it was not to her taste.
  3. He had not given her any clothing, saying that it avoided the need for laundry.
  4. Something else.
