Deep within the space pirates' new lair on the planet Mobeus II, their leader, the dragon-like alien Ridley watched the surveillance monitors that kept tabs on the complex of underground caverns and structures in which the galaxy's most feared criminal organization now resided. He was anxious, and had reason to be. Samus Aran, one of the top bounty hunters in the federation, had managed to destroy the space pirates' organization on Zebes without any outside federation help. She worked alone, and yet had brought them to their knees.
Knowing something had to be done about this threat, lest the space pirates be completely wiped out, the recently regenerated Ridley enacted a secret operation to build a new HQ on Mobius II, a planet circling the star in closest proximity to Zebes. Knowing how Samus had used the techonology of the vanished Chozo tribe to her advantage, he had his men do everything they could to give Mobius II the false look of a former Chozo world, decorating it with architecture typical of the avian race. If they were successful, they might be able to fool Samus into believing that the planet was yet another lost Chozo world.
-------
As Samus, rolled into a morph ball, entered the space pirate facility through an air shaft, something didn't sit right with her. In all the years the Chozo raise me on Zebes, they never once mentioned this planet as being among their worlds. This is probably a trap.
Exiting the shaft, Samus rose from her morph ball form and scanned the area with her suit's visor. Not detecting any enemies, she kept her arm cannon raised and ready to fire. Following her suit's map sensor, she found a doorway nearby and carefully stepped through.
On the other side of the door was a small room containing a Chozo statue in a seated position with one hand outstretched. It was very similar if not identical to statues that Samus saw on Zebes. A casing of some strange nature rested in the statue's outstretched hand.
Approaching the statue carefully, Samus used a low-powered energy shot to shatter the casing and reveal its contents. Inside was a familiar looking device. It looks like a shield component for a powersuit, she thought. Holding it up, she used her scanner on it and determined that it was a more powerful version of the Varia suit circuit, designed to allow the suit's wearer to withstand extreme planetary temperatures. Nothing seems wrong with it. I'll put it in and see what happens.
