Steinwick decided to take a job teaching Physics at Jessica's High School. He and Eliza kept up their relationship, although Steinwick suggested that they kept separate houses, allowing him to avoid messing up Eliza's house. He would teach all morning and early afternoon, work in his house all late afternoon and then drive across to Eliza's in the Evening. at the weekend Eliza would come over to his house and they would work together.
Jessica grew up, graduating top of her class in most subjects - but Music remained her first love. Steinwick was able to fund her into college studying the performing arts. In the evenings she got bookings to perform in public halls and theatres. She and her best friend Colleen shared a house together until 1938 when she met Jerry Enasni. Like her, Jerry loved music and before long they were engaged.

On September 3rd 1939 Steinwick was in his house hanging a clock in the bathroom when he slipped off the cistern and hit his head on the Toilet Pan.
When he came back around he had a realisation of where his system was going wrong. He had been been trying to use Spacetime flux to produce a stable wormhole. By using some form of Capacitor to slow the power draw of the opening wormhole he could maintain the wormhole's stability. He decided to call it a Steinwick Capacitor.
He went down to the lab and began working on producing a prototype Steinwick Capacitor. It took him a while and when he looked up it was almost 8pm.
"Jessica" he thought, She was singing at 6pm in the theatre and he had been supposed to be there. Quickly he grabbed his car keys and ran out of the house.

Steinwick ran into the theatre very late and met Jerry and Jessica, walking down the hallway in the opposite direction. Steinwick stopped to talk to them...
"Ah, Jerry," said Steinwick, "taking Jessica home for the night? I am so sorry I missed the performance, my dear."
Jessica mumbled something unclear.
"She was splendid, Professor, really," said Jerry. "You'll have to catch her next time. Good luck on your speech."
"Thanks, I'll need it, never good to be late you know!"
With that Steinwick rushed into the ballroom to find Eliza.

Despite being very understanding of Steinwick's position. Eliza found incidents like this very trying.
Steinwick may not have chosen to be in this time or place, but he could at least try and remember the important things he had chosen like taking Jessica as his daughter.
On the drive home she had startedd off very angry, but her mood mellowed as she realised the enormity of the breakthrough Steinwick had made. They talked about it briefly but promised to test it more thoroughly at the weekend.
They spent the rest of the evening talking about other things and listening to the radio. The phonecall came unexpectedly at 11Pm it was the Police. Jerry had tried to kill Jessica. The police had quickly arrived at her house, where they found Jerry lying on the floor half-laughing and half-crying. Apparently, he was off his rocker. He hadn't even reloaded his gun, much less tried to leave the scene. He had been arrested. Jessica was happy to return back to her house now that he couldn't hurt her.
