“Now what?” Link asked, she looked downwards as she felt her clothes twist and bubble in strange ways. The sensation was hard to describe, and she squirmed as her green tunic began to shift hues, darkening into a velvety black. Her undershirt began to recede and vanish, as her sleeves rolled and puffed up around her shoulders. Her tunic swallowed her straps, and gear. Small bags and trinkets turning into jewelry that adorned her new puffy black maid uniform. Small jewels and rings, decorative chains and patterns all maid of silver to stars the lifeless sky that was the fabric of her dress.
The only trinkets left found themselves situated in a new home being constructed across her waistline. An apron forming from what remained of her belt. Pockets opened themselves as the tools once used for adventuring became nothing but cleaning tools. Even her sword succumbed to these changes, becoming nothing but a duster that hung at her side.
Her gloves grew thinner, from cloth and leather they began to fall into white silky gloves that covered her dainty hands and reached up to her elbow. Her pants reflected this change, shifting into white knee-high socks that grew out of small, black heels.
Her hat began to lose its color and point, brightening and receding inward on itself. It shrank until it remained to be nothing but a white headdress that sat atop her blonde hair, a symbol to let all know that she was a maid, eager to serve.
“I think we need to look into this gem now, before anything else happens.” Midna spoke. Despite her usual demeanor, it was clear to Link that Midna was worried. Possibly even scared of whatever magic was tormenting her.
“Of course, mistress! -“Link spoke without second thought. Her eyes widened as the words left her lips and left them softer than before.
Midna’s eyes widened, her mouth left agape. “Mistress?” she exclaimed.
Link wasn’t sure what to say. She hadn’t meant to say anything like that. Even her words were no longer her own as her voice became softer, more delicate. Link wanted to express her shock and emotion, but her hands rested clasped in front of her. Her body remained still, calm, and ready to serve. Like a good maid should.
“My apologies.” Was all Link could force herself to say, her body almost instinctively bowing.
“We need to fix this, NOW.” Midna demanded, not wanting to allow any further unexpected changes. Her concern visibly growing. “We need to think of something, fast.”
Link nodded, as she began to run through various courses of action in her mind.
