When Jim awoke, he found himself strapped to a lab table. He tried wriggling around, to get out of the bindings, but it was no use. He wasn't getting out of there.
The door opened, causing him to look in that direction as best he could. But he still couldn't see anything. All he could do was hear a man's voice.
"Now, what are we going to do with you?" the man asked.
"Who are you?" Jim asked. "Why am I a prisoner here?"
"You are a prisoner, Mr. McNutt, because you came looking for your girlfriend. It's very noble ... but foolhardy. And now, we'll have to deal with you."
"Deal with me how? Who are you?"
The man stepped into view. He was a neatly-dressed man in a business suit. "I, Mr. McNutt, am Alexander Black ... Sharon's new boss."
Jim tried to struggle out of his bindings again. "What did you do to her?!"
Mr. Black only smiled. "Whatever I want. And the same goes for you, by the way."
"What do you mean?" Jim asked, getting afraid.
"I mean that you will have the opportunity to become my next test subject." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Hmm, I wonder what experiment I should use on you." There was pause, then his eyes lit up. "Of course!" he exclaimed, as an idea occurred to him. He seemed very pleased with himself. Unlike Jim.
