Rick looked around the park. Carrie had turned out pretty good, but this wasn't going to be as much fun if there weren't at least two of them stuck as centaurs in a human world. There had to be somebody suitable — that guy on the park bench, maybe, or that girl over there sunbathing?
Then Rick chuckled. A police officer came around the corner on horseback. It was a woman, a young woman in her early twenties with long blond hair, and she was riding a brown arabian stallion. This was nearly perfect.
She saw Carrie, and aimed her horse right toward the confused newly-minted centaur. "Hey, what's going on here?" she said. "Is that some kind of costume?"
Rick flicked the magic wand with glee, then stood back and watched.
"Please! You have to help me! I was just jogging, and suddenly I turned into this — this horse thing!" The pretty brunette turned and nodded at her new lower half. She still hadn't figured out how to use her new arms.
"Ma'am, people don't turn into horses," said the policewoman. Unbeknownst to her, she was beginning to sink into her horse, her legs starting to disappear inside its body as though it was made of soft goo. "Now calm down, and explain to me what really happened."
"My butt turned into a horse! What else do you need to know!?" cried Carrie. "I can't move my arms!"
"Relax, relax, now calm down," said the policewoman. Her legs were mostly gone now, and the horse's head was shrinking rapidly. "Start over from the beginning, and describe everything that just happened, slowly and clearly."
"I'm — a — horse! Horsegirl — thing! Oh, God, it's spreading, too! Look at you!"
The policewoman looked down, and where she expected to see Buck's head and saddle, there was nothing but the horse's chest blending smoothly up under her jacket.
"Wha — ?"
Laura looked down at herself, and suddenly realized the truth: She was attached to Buck, a lot more than she'd ever wanted to be.
