As I noted before, P-chan is an enormous problem for pairing Ryouga and Akane. I personally feel it pretty much disqualifies Ryouga completely; but even if it doesn’t go that far, it’s a big freakin’ deal that both Ryouga and Ranma have to come clean about it if Ryouga is to have any hope of an actual relationship with Akane.
While the P-chan deal might be something that he would have to admit to Akane and Ranma would have to deal with the blow back as well. Its not something that completely disqualifies Ryoga for me.
The other characters do not exactly have squeak clean background themselves. Almost every character has done something that could disqualify them from pairing up with anyone at all. Again while this does not excuse what Ryoga has done as P-chan it does not disqualifies him either
Well, when I say “disqualify,” I don’t mean I consider it unforgivable. It just seems to me to be something that would poison the well in terms of any honest, trusting relationship. But people can certainly have differing opinions on this point.
In fairness Ryouga is no more at fault than he was in the normal continuity, and we still liked him back then. As for Ranma, maybe he's bound by honour for some variation on the original reason, or maybe she hogs P-chan to herself when they snuggle in bed.
Maybe it just me that does not see the whole P-chan thing as deal breaker or even as poison to a relationship because how all the other characters in Ranma 1/2 are
What if Ranma hogged P-chan to herself because she actually has feeling for him as well. Ranma is terminally oblivious these feelings but they actually hidden to behind the teasing she does with Ryoga.
We “still liked him” in canon? Well, I like canon Ryouga as a character well enough, but I think he’s wrecked any chance he could have had at a successful relationship with Akane. But it’s also somewhat less of an issue in canon, since there was *never going to be* a relationship between them in canon. Here, it appears to be the goal, which is fine in and of itself. I’m just not sure I believe it could work after P-chan.
Though to reiterate, I will readily admit that others may be more optimistic on this topic than I am.
As for Ranma having hidden feelings for Ryouga, I’ve actually always found that much easier to believe than the idea that Akane would be able to trust Ryouga enough to date him after learning the truth about P-chan. Though I also know that a lot of people vehemently reject the idea of Ranma having feelings for Ryouga, and that’s fine too. These are relatively subjective issues, after all.
I probably am more optimistic in regards to the whole how Akane deals with learning about P-chan then. It all comes down to how it the subject is handle as of course she would be angry at the start but worser things have happened to her (espeically in this reality where she is Ranma's twin) that she manage to forgive him after some time.
The whole Ranma/Ryoga idea was just something I came with at random really. Possibly cause I read some really well written and thought out one in my opinion
