In the room that used to be the Tendo parlor, between the front door and kitchen, Happosai lay on a pile of his latest collection of silky, taffeta and cotton darlings; he was tapping the handle of an ink brush to his lips, while gazing at the blank pages of a book. He had found it while he had been hiding, that is, resting after a long night's word saving precious darlings. It was in an alley in Nerima's business mall with others of its kind. It was new year's eve, and the store owner probably didn't think this soon-to-be-last year's day planners would be worth anything. Stupid man.
And even if the store owner wasn't a stupid man, it was a fun game to play! Happosai would make a wish. He had nothing to lose! "Let's see. What do I want to write for December 31?" He knew it was well after midnight, so anything he wrote would have, if it came true, already have happened. "What would be my fondest wish? One I could never get through martial arts? Don't think small, Master Happy! May as well try for extreme magic!" He cackled madly as he thought of it and quickly dipped his brush in the inkstand and struck out day planner and wrote in Happosai's Journal, and then wrote on the book's last page.
"Today, I found the one and only Gender Gem, which only I can use!" He went on to describe what his miraculous Gender Gem could do. Finished with the paragraph, he blew on the ink to help dry it, then set it down to begin his fantasizing. "What if I really did have something like that? Hotcha!"
He tried to get his almost always semi-flaccid appendage to rise to the occasion, but as usual it refused to respect its master. (There was something else he could write in the past year journal, about his recovery from the many hexes and curses put upon him.) "Maybe one of my darlings will help," he said, reaching for a particularly sexy, jewel green pantie. Out dropped an emerald. It was hexagonal with the Western symbols for Mars and Venus within, one for each side.
He sat bolt upright. "How could I have let my greatest treasure leave my hand!" He held it up to his cheek and sang to it, "Never again! I'll put you in a ring you can rest in so you will never have to leave it, my most Precious!"
He went to the closet and started tossing out and scattering lingerie, pantyhose, hose, garter belts, negligies, naked aprons.... He paused. "I forgot I had these! Oh, well. With the my Midas Touchstone, I don't need their power! -Ah! Here's my treasure chest full of jewelry!" Its contents he scattered on the floor, looking for one special setting.
"Wait! Why am I bothering to do this! I still have my past year journal! I'll write about a ring that'll cause the male symbol to surface only with a password! It'll then automatically be submerged under Venus! Gya! Ha! Ha! Just the way the world should be!"
Now that the Gender Gem was a reality, once the two magics interacted, the Unsold Day Planner Past Year Journal burst into cold flame and became magically neutral. But at least Happosai had the kind of ring he wanted to hold his power over gender.
