Level Upper: A Certain Kuroko's Plan

Kuroko disliked writing reports. That wasn't a strange sentiment among humans given how very repetitive and boring the act was for the most part. The majority of them didn't like paperwork all that much, though of course there were always exceptions.

Though as noted, she wasn't one of these exceptions.

Yet, something very strange and unexpected happened as the girl wrote. At first everything was normal. She would put down a few sentences, then think about what to write next, consider any mistakes she may have made and think about the best wording. This would continue on normally and the actual act of writing would often be interrupted by short pauses where she thought about the text she had written or was going to write next. A time-consuming process, but it was necessary if she wanted to do everything right and not be forced to rewrite everything at a later time.

That was how it went at the start, but after a few minutes, Kuroko found herself moving almost on autopilot. Everything became so much.... easier than before. She found herself writing faster and with more certainty than she had ever done before. It was a most unusual sensation and even stranger because she barely noticed it while she was working.

The writing continued on, minutes ticking by, then reaching the half-hour mark before continuing in an almost dreamlike state.

She may have continued for even longer if her phone hadn't started to beep in warning. Kuroko blinked and checked the time. She had been writing for more than an hour without even really noticing it. She sighed before checking how far she had gotten, not quite sure how she had lost track of her writing.

Kuroko blinked in surprise as she noticed that this wasn't the report she had planned to write but another piece of text she had pushed back in her list of priorities the last few days. The girl twitched for a moment before checking again.... and yes she had gotten almost halfway through this particular annoyance. As her eyes flew over the words and sentences, she noticed a distinct difference in quality of her writing. Everything was just more precise, simple and straightforward in what it was conveying. As she looked back, the text became slowly closer to what she was used to, though she had to open the other document with her report to check for her starting point....

Then she blinked and her mouth opened a little in disbelief at what this meant exactly.

Shirai Kuroko looked down at the small device hanging on her tattered uniform innocently. She had to turn it a little, but she quickly saw that the display had changed. It was still showing the same skill, but now it was at Level 29, halfway towards another level up. She twitched a little at exactly what this meant. This device was somehow boosting her attributes... her abilities or something like that.... How did it work? It wasn't really uploading knowledge into her brain, or at least she didn't feel like she somehow knew more about paperwork and related things. Her fingers simply developed a mind of their own and her brain seemed to almost turn off when completing the texts. It was almost like a blackout...

Was this some sort of prototype device Academy City had created? Something that could somehow boost the abilities of a person to higher levels... but why the gaming like system? Why the levels and experience? Why not put someone immediately to max level? Did it need to synchronize with the user or something similar?

Now it is important to remember that Kuroko had lived for years in Academy City, a place of science and inventions that boggled the mind. And she wasn't just some random girl but a student of the prestigious Tokiwadai middle school. What that meant was that she had quite a bit more knowledge than the average teenager her age outside this city would have. And her upbringing had pointed towards rationality above faith in every way. So her first reasoning was logically that this was some sort of super-machine created by a crackpot genius out there.

It wasn't even that far off. There was a technology in the city that could directly upload knowledge and skills into people's minds. Though it was far bigger than the Level Upper and unable to achieve anything close to the mysterious device.

Even with that reasoning though, Kuroko was still left with many questions.

Who had built this thing?

What could and couldn't it boost?

How high could it boost skills? Was there even a limit?

And most important of all of these questions, how could she use this machine to get closer to her beloved Onee-sama.

Kuroko had rather strange priorities at times, but no one could say that she wasn't consistent and tireless in her affections for Tokiwadai's Railgun.

There were many... no countless skills that Kuroko would love to possess or be better with. Simple things like cooking or dancing came to mind as potential directions to show off to her crush. But there was more... what if this could make her more attractive? It had asked for an attribute, so maybe something like her beauty could also be boosted? Or could it possibly make her better in the social area, give her the abilities of a world-class flirter?

A image of her walking up to her darling and simply talking her into a round of cuddling came to mind.

Kuroko licked her lips and felt her breathing getting heavy.....

No, she couldn't simply try something like that. At least not without first finding out whether that could actually work. She needed to take something that she could train without problems until it was on a high enough level for her to test how it affected others.

The possibility of putting it stealthily on her Onee-sama came to mind, but she wasn't sure this was smart. While it would be amusing to see her growing into whatever Kuroko came up with, it would be troublesome to get rid of the item again. Worse if she actually discovered it on her person and found out what it did....

But still... it was very tempting....

No... she had to stay on target. Something she could do alone and without trouble and which she could test on others once she had a high enough level....

A thought came to mind as she looked at her mobile phone again. It was a very modern piece with lots of features.

Including a high-definition camera.

Kuroko paused for a moment before coming to a decision. She pushed the button to change from Paperwork to something else.

“Erotic Photography” She said and saw the words popping into the small display of the Level Upper. She licked her lips again as she saw the

“Erotic Photography: Level 3
EXP 3/15 To Next Level Up”

Yeah, not something she had really ever done before.

But she couldn't let her shame push her away. If this worked... oh if it worked....

It was time to make selfies while showing some skin.
