“Good enough. Wish granted, darling”
“What?”
“Here’s the deal. I’m your new best friend because I’m about to give you exactly what you want. But, there’s a twist”
“Is the twist having to sit through this weird conversation?”
“Very funny. You should really start believing in magic. It’ll help you out a lot today”
Carlotta’s eyes scanned the room. Making sure her co-workers were hearing the same thing she was.
“Do you want to hear the twist?”
“Ok, tell me the twist...”
Oooh, ok. This is a fun one. The very next person you touch will change you to be more like their ideal woman. So if you want to be with your Sammi you have to make it all the way home without so much as bumping elbows with a stranger. Fun, right?”
“H-how did you know her name?”
“Magic” Circe gave Carlotta a condescending look as she rose from her chair. “I’m off, Darling. Thanks for the manicure. And please, consider what I’ve said today”

Carlotta sighed. It had been a long day and she was really looking forward to getting back home. Where she could pine over her unrequited love again…
That strange woman’s words were really sticking with her. She wasn’t superstitious or anything. But...Well, she just had to get home.
She gulped a bit as the bus pulled up to her stop. Looking pretty packed.
