Like C.S. Lewis's Forest between Worlds, this place lead to worlds which existed in different planes of existance. The pool it's self was serene as the wave of worlds washed over them, as it focused on the life of Ranma Saotome. Yet these waves also focused on one girl who was close to him as well, the Amazon Shampoo.
In one was the events of the battle with Saffron, Shampoo had been by Kiima by a Surikomi egg. Eventually to defend himself, Ranma had to throw one of the eggs back at Shampoo to trap her again. She would become the willing slave of the first person she looked at. Here there was to divergances which appeared in the pool.
The first Ranma tried to disarm Shampoo from holding the special eggs by asking her to undress. In the original line of time, Mousse and Ryoga burst in to cause a distraction for Ranma to shot back an egg. One encased, Ranma almost cracks the egg before Mousse stops him. This universe, however, held that Ranma was quicker them Mousse and Shampoo imprinted like a baby bird on Ranma. All this after Ranma destroyed the last of the eggs.
The second evolved as the original till the point after Shampoo had been shown a mirror by Mousse to imprint on herself when he cracked the egg. In the original, she leapt into Ranma's arms. In this one, Shampoo wasn't quite out of eggs as she launched an egg at Ranma. Getting an enslave Genma to protect her, she shatters the egg and Ranma imprints on her. She then had him continue to save Akane and battle Saffron, knowing in the end she had won and Ranma was hers.
A third world unrelated to the last emerged as the time Shampoo had found the Red Thread of Fate, the asian symbol of soulmates. After hours of rivals and fiancees try to cut or protect the thread, in the original world Akane snapped it with a sneak attack moments before it disappeared. In this world, she managed to miss by seconds and the thread made the love spell between the amazon and the girl-boy permanent.
The fourth world's change events was the time of the Reversal Jewel. In the original, Akane had managed to show up before an ego hurt Ranma admitted to loving Shampoo. Instead Ms. Tendo managed to expressed her love for Ranma with the Jewel right side up, revealing love. If upside down, it would have turned that love to hatred. Yet in this world, the jewel was upside down. Causing a hatred filled Akane to rant against Ranma, encouraging him to say he loved Shampoo and entering her arms.
The final world before the pool changed again held the Koi Fishing Rod. A suction cup tipped rod which would cause a koi mark on a person. This mark would become a koi fish, koi also being a word for love. The original world had Ryoga buying the rod to use on Akane. What if Shampoo had bought it and successfully used it on Ranma's male form?
Five worlds were things are different. Here for the moment, yet five more world wait to slip across the waters for more addventures...
