Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat, sat comfortably on top of a water tower and looked down over the city. The sun was going down and soon she'd have to rely on her vision to be able to see.
From her perch, she had a direct line of vision to a fifth floor walkup apartment in a pre-war building. She was patient. She knew that the apartment was a love nest and she was almost positive that it was the love nest of an FBI agent.
But then, Felicia heard a popping sound above her. She sniffed the air: something was burning.
Right in front of her a stone dropped out of the sky and plopped itself in the roof at the foot of the water tower.
Felicia prided herself on not even flinching.
She waited. She looked in every direction for another rock, or anyone else looking at her.
A few minutes later, she swung herself off the tower and onto the roof where the stone was still smoking. A little bit of the roof tar was melting around it.
Was it good luck that the rock had appeared? or bad luck? Felicia had most of her super powers stripped by Dr. Strange. She missed having supernatural eyesight.
At the same time, she did her best with what she had. She didn't need to be armed with alien genetics like Carol Danvers or born with mutant powers like Jean Grey. She'd trained to be an acrobat and a fighter. Like her father had taught her, nothing was going to be given to you in this world, you had to take it.
Felicia looked at the rock as it seemed to glow. Was it alien? She remembered seeing an eternity stone. It didn't seem to be that dense. In fact, as it cooled it turned a rather boring grey color, looking more like a piece of river rock.
She held her hand out over it. Finding it just slightly warm, she picked it up.
