Carly Carmine, intrepid amateur reporter of New Domino City, was trying to do basic research for a new story she could do to finally break out and become a famous reporter or news journalist.
But she flailed as she remembered that Angela Rains, her arch rival from High School, had generally one upped her. It isn't fair! Carly thought to herself.
... And then she heard a knocking at her door. What the? Carly got up and walked to the door and checked outside her peephole. Nobody. She took a chance and opened it. She saw no one and then looked down. She found a small grey gift box at her feet.
She picked it up and quickly closed the door. Could never be too sure these days around here. She thought to herself.
After Carly had gotten herself settled and with a hot cup of coffee, she opened the box. And found a stone. It was green and smooth, and not much else. ... This is weird. She thought to herself. I wonder what it is.
She sighed and got back to her report, putting the stone down on her lap. After a few minutes, she banged her head in frustration. "I wish..."
