There were numerous grumbles of annoyance and minor jealousy as Jaden guided Alexis through the crowd to the next class. Sure, she was a Slifer, but there could be no question in the minds of anyone in school that Alexis Rhodes was the hottest chick in the entire school. If anything, the red made her look sexier than the blue or yellow ever could. Most of the boys there would have gladly given anything for five minutes alone with her, and some of the girls had mused along those lines as well.
And yet there she was, holding hands with another Slifer loser. Everybody knew that the two of them were in a relationship. Everybody knew that the two of them were an item. Everybody except the two of them. Alexis had thought it something that would occur only in her wildest dreams, while Jaden... well, he simply didn't think about such things. It was like a blind spot for him. How then could he have the remotest idea that he had just grabbed hold of a girl that would crawl over broken glass naked just to be near him. A girl that many in the school would do the very same thing just for the chance he was now getting.
Alexis did not resist as he guided her through the school, towards that classroom. Her eyes were a million miles away, lost in some daydream of her and her beloved, together, forever and ever. The warmth of his hand was the only thing that was real that penetrated the dream, that allowed her to remember that it wasn't real and she had to come crashing back to reality... And then, he let go, as he'd guided her to a seat. It was time for the next lesson to begin. He sat behind her, and she finally allowed herself to blush and stamp her foot in complete frustration.
"Dammit!" she hissed. "He was holding my hand and everything! How am I supposed to tell him how I feel if his hawtness keep on distracting me? "
"Good question," Mindy said, from the next seat. "Alexis, if you don't sort this out soon..."
"I know, I know... But he's so hawt! Just thinking about him makes it hard for me to stand."
Mindy looked over in the direction Alexis realised Jaden must be sitting in. She shouldn't look. She shouldn't look. It wasn't the smart thing to do. If you're going to break this obsession, she told herself, then she had to start by not checking him out all the time. That said, she almost gave herself whiplash when she turned to leer at him about three seconds later. It was an improvement, and quite a large one at that. Triple her previous personal best. Not that she was timing it or anything.
"Hey, whatever runs your motor," Mindy shrugged. "But really, there was something hugely creepy about the way he was just guiding you through the corridor like that."
"What do you mean, guiding me through the corridor?"
"Well, it was like... you would just sort of follow him automatically, but he had to pull you out of the way, help you upstairs, help you through doors... There was something sort of creepy about it, but at least he cares. Hm. Maybe that's why you're so into him... He cares... But if that is what you're like all the time with him, then I don't get how you can possibly live in the Slifer Dorm with him!"
The Slifer Dorm was hardly a well maintained building by any standard. It usually only had male students attending it, and Alexis was something of a special case. There weren't many rooms, or much space at all come to it. If she was pressed, Alexis would have realised that she couldn't even begin to describe what went on when she returned to the dorm. Because, at the inevitable first glimpse of Jaden once she got there, that was her gone for the night. How did she get ready for bed? Jaden changed her into her pyjamas, of course. How did she bathe? Well, Jaden didn't think anything of it, and she certainly never complained. If she'd ever known that Jaden saw her naked on a regular basis, she might well have fainted into a bliss induced coma.
"You need help," Mindy had said.
"I just wish you understood!" Alexis moaned, biting her lip at the sight of Jaden stretching out in a yawn.
