There he was, staring up at the sky without a care in the world. All she wanted to do was lie down next to him, to hold his hand maybe roll over and kiss him and hug him and who knew where that might lead next? She blushed furiously, and had to slap herself so she didn't drift off into another one of her fantasies. No, bad girl! Stay focused!
"Um, Jaden?" she said, kicking herself for sounding like such a helpless little girl. She was even clutching her hands behind her back and rolling the toes of her right foot along the ground in the stereotypically nervous way, as if she was intentionally trying to complete the image! She stopped herself, and drove on through with pure will alone. "I was wondering if we could have a duel? I got some new cards I want to try out, and -"
"A duel? Hey, sure thing!" Jaden rolled back onto his feet. Always eager for a quick duel. That was just one of the many, many things she loved about him. Just ask her friends, they'd seen the list. Jasmine had enquired how many trees had to die so she could write all that out.
As they went through the duelling process, Alexis could feel the haze that clouded her mind whenever she was anywhere near Jaden lifting, soaring away and letting her think clearly and rationally again. But she knew all too well that it would only last so long as they were duelling. It would last only so long as she applied that mind to trying to win this duel. Hopefully with her new cards, she could pull just that off.
"I'll start us off, then!" Alexis declared, drawing her sixth card. Perfect start, by the looks of it. "I'll play the first of my new cards. Succubus Maid Lvl 1!"
On the field, a miniature version of Alexis appeared, perhaps ten years younger than herself. It had a cute pair of horns atop its head, a tiny little forked tail, a junior maid outfit and upon seeing Jaden its face broke out in a blush.
"Hey, that's kind of a cute monster. What does it do?"
"Not much yet. Its power won't come in until I level it up, which I'd normally do by using it to defeat a monster. However, I have the spell card Level Up in my hand which allows me to send this card to the graveyard and replace it with Succubus Maid Lvl 4 instead!"
The hologram faded, and was swiftly replaced by another. Taller, still the same long blonde hair, still the same friendly brown eyes and still the same blush painting her cheeks red. Still the same outfit, by the looks of things. Jaden didn't know where to look, and that wasn't exactly helped by the fact that this monster was Alexis' duplicate, save only for the horns on top of her head and the forked tail which was twitching nervously behind her.
"I'll set this and end my turn! Your go, handsome!"
Oh! She'd managed to get that out without falling to pieces! Maybe there was some merit to this plan after all! Maybe, just maybe, she could win his heart here after all! Of course, Alexis had no way of knowing that her own ability to flirt with and talk to Jaden outside of a duel was directly connected to the events of the duel and his own rising attraction to her. Nor could she know that the monsters she was using had effects and abilities far beyond the scope of what she'd thought possible. Nor would she particularly care. All she wanted was to get her man, by hook or by crook! Stage one had been a success. Now it was dependant on whatever he did with his turn.
