Unknown to anyone on Earth, the body wash was an import from an isolated alien world. A lone alien from that planet managed to arrive on Earth, and provided a free sample of the bottle to the first person they saw as an act of friendship. Unfortunately, they didn't quite realise the full impact chemicals from their weird world would have on a planet with a yellow sun.
Bottles wound up making their way around, until it fell into the hands of this character.
