"Ran-Chan!" Lum called worriedly as the pink haired girl collapsed.
"Is she all right?" Ataru asked as he pushed himself to his feet.
Lum shook her head. "I don't know, I'd better get her back to her ship, that's got the equipment to figure it out."
Ataru nodded. "Want me to carry her?" he asked.
Lum glanced toward him with a frown, but just shook her head. "I'll be faster flying," she stated, carefully repositioning Ran on her back with her arms over Lum's shoulders. A few moments later and she was flying out of the Moroboshi house with Ran draped along her back.
Ataru looked at Lum flying away with Ran, and frowned. Part of him wanted to embrace this opportunity to go girl hunting while Lum was distracted. But the idea of taking that sort of advantage if Ran was really sick. . . No that wasn't something he wanted to do.
A minute later Ataru had charged out the front door and was jogging toward the park where Ran's flower/ufo shaped house was.
He did hit on several girls during his run, but he kept all his flirtations brief and resumed his running immediately.
Lum sighed with relief as she pushed Ran into the diagnostic pod. She pushed the button to trigger the diagnosis, then levitated back, waiting.
"Working, working," the computer declared. "Diagnosis - Energy oversaturation."
Lum blinked. 'Darling didn't look like he'd had anything drained away,' she thought to herself. "Um, can you go into more detail?
"Extrapolating. Subject has drained energy type E4 from unknown targets in quantities exceeding her ability to store such energy in isolation. The overflow is disrupting her system, details unknown."
"Can you treat this?" Lum asked.
"Limited treatment only, the energy still isolated from her system can be drained to reduce pressure, but the excess spillover will remain."
"Begin treatment immediately," Lum said, nodding as the pod closed and began to hum as it's treatment mode was initiated.
