What a curious human she had replaced! The body was decent enough; there was plenty to work with physically to seduce whomever she would need to. She had enough youth if she needed to act the naive innocent and enough… heft to play the sultry seductress as well. Vohlith licked her lips in anticipation of tasting the raw sensual energy that the weak little natives of this backwater world all seemed to be stuffed with. Had any planet been more ripe for conquest by the Negaverse than this one?
While the physique Vohlith borrowed served her purposes well, the Negaverse agent couldn’t help but wonder if her chosen target hadn’t been struggling with some fairly significant mental issues. Normally a target’s memories could be counted on to provide basic information a possessing or imitating soldier might need to do her task, but this girl’s memories seemed like they had been poured into a blender set on liquify before being transferred to Vohlith.
Speech patterns, muscle memory, and personal preferences seemed to survive the trip from one skull to the other mostly intact. She now felt a preference for hot dogs with mustard, relish, and extra onions, found spiders to be unsettlingly creepy, and gained a new appreciation for shorter, dark-haired men that owned some sort of contraption called a motored cycle. From whims and passing fancies to personal, driving motivations that Kotori didn’t even know about herself, they were all now a part of Vohlith’s identity, at least until the job was complete and she cast the false persona aside.
What hadn’t been included with the ‘Kotori Package’ was any information that provided the slightest hint as to what the girl was doing at the temple. She thought it was a safe assumption, given her clothes, that Kotori had worked there either as a part-timer or in a more involved role, but the included mental instruction manual on ‘How To Volunteer at a Temple’ was entirely blank. Even odder still, it didn’t seem like she had any memories of another job or any other activity that would explain the missing knowledge. There was a faint sense of familiarity with books, but other than that, it seemed like the girl had appeared out of nowhere last night. Even the memories since then were blurry and nonsensical.
Still, Vohlith was a soldier with a task to perform (a highly enjoyable task should everything proceed as planned). She could still hear the actual priestess of the temple exchanging heated words with a small group of visitors near the front archway and could smell the only other resident (an elderly man) sawing logs in one of the temple’s bedrooms, so the time would never be better for her to put her plan into action.
She gingerly walked across the stone pathway like the entire surface was covered in shards of broken glass, because for her, it pretty much felt that way. Part of the temple’s purpose was to ward off evil spirits, and while Vohlith might not have thought of herself as purely evil, even she had no illusions about what side of the great divide the Negaverse and its minions fell on. It was a discomfort she would have to endure temporarily though, since her own presence worked to slowly corrupt the purity around her.
Eventually she found what she was looking for: a bell with a long ribbon dangling from it, suspended over a small padded bench meant for knelt prayer. To the side was a donation box that harbored more avarice than anything else on the temple compound. The bell was intended to send prayers to loved ones in the afterlife and was the most frequently visited of the temple’s attractions (well, perhaps second-most behind the drop-dead sexy priestess). Innocuous enough, but it wouldn’t be after Vohlith finished tuning it.
Reaching out a hand that for a brief moment possessed claws it hadn’t a second before, the girl ran the tip of her finger around the lip of the bell while muttering a very specific series of words. The bell lit up in pale white light, which gradually shifted to a sickly pink shade before fading out of existence. The villain permitted herself a vile grin as she felt her spell sink into the brass object, now co-opted into serving as a tool for Queen Beryl.
‘Kotori’ stepped back, and as if on cue a pair of high school girls walked up to the bell. Strange how they happened to appear right then and there, especially when the ballistic shouting attack Rei was currently unleashing on poor Usagi and the others should have been enough to send anyone with even an iota of sense running for the hills. But the two girls seemed completely oblivious to anything going on around them, not even stopping to say hello to Vohlith.
The girls continued chatting about how unfair their recent homework load was, only stopping when the first one reached the bell. She paused, tossed a few coins in the donation box, then reached out for the ribbon. As soon as the bell rang, the expression on her face instantly changed. The other girl continued on the conversation, never noticing how her friend was now standing with wide, glassy eyes staring off at nothing in particular. As if habit she reached up to ring the bell herself, and as it tolled her face adopted the same vacant outlook.
“Hmm, rather bland for a first course. But then, I’m sure your next delivery will be far spicier,” ‘Kotori’ laughed, as the pair mechanically turned on their heels and walked back towards the road. Temporarily divested of their sexual energy, the pair was now compelled to fill the void with as much erotic passion as possible. They would then return back to be siphoned, then be sent back out again, rinse and repeat ad nauseum. Ensnaring others was encouraged by the mystical force now commanding them, but given that the pair was now walking side-by-side and holding hands, it was likely their first session would be a private one.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Vohlith turned around and spotted the wet blanket upon the entire affair. If not for this priestess, she could have enjoyed herself a little with her first victims before sending them on their way. For now, it was going to be hard enough keeping the sanctimonious priestess from noticing the evil energy now almost dripping off of her precious bell.
“Sorry Rei-sama. I was just aiding a pair of visitors. They just left a moment ago.” At least the few memories Kotori had left her with included a name. Emotions left over towards the voluptuous woman were mixed: the human girl had a near hero’s worship complex towards Rei, but at the same time was recently feeling exasperated with her as well. Not an easy mixture to experience, let alone imitate.
The bulging vein in the woman’s forehead was a good sign. For whatever reason, the priestess was too upset with ‘Kotori’ to notice the spiritual sabotage done in front of her. “Who said you could come out of the storage room?! One minute you’re creeping out the shrine’s guests, and then when I turn my back you’re acting like my assistant? You are not going to leave my sight, until I’m absolutely convinced that you’re not behind this corrupt perversion that’s running rampant everywhere. For all I know, those three sexpots that just stopped by were sent on your orders!”
It felt strange to Vohlith to be falsely accused for the first time in her life. Where she was from, innocence was a nine-letter word that wasn’t uttered in polite company. Still, she might be guilty by association, if the Negaverse was running some large-scale corruption scheme simultaneously that she was unaware of. Odds were that Jedite would have notified her if that was the case, and besides, what would be the point? These humans were already walking sacks of hormones, just barely restraining themselves from throwing off their inhibitions and fucking each other silly. Even this priestess, supposedly a model for chaste modesty, couldn’t lecture a supposed underling without running her hands up and down across her scandalously large bosom, which itself was barely hidden at all by far too loose temple robes.
“O-Of course, Rei-sama,” Vohlith replied, bowing humbly and confusing Rei even more. “I look forward to you showing me the error of my ways personally.”
