The ears of the black feline drooped as the shrine maiden verbally tore into the naive, future savior of the planet and her two friends to pieces. The girl was clearly the reincarnation of Rei, the Princess of Mars. She had both her predecessor’s fiery demeanor and absurdly voluptuous form. All (human) members of Princess Serenity’s court were famous throughout the universe for their sexual prowess after all, with her guardians in particular having bustlines that were exceeded in scale only by their devotion to their leader.
The poor girl in the temple priestess robes however seemed more than a little out of sorts. With Ami’s help, Usagi had only just begun broaching the topic of another evil universe bent on world domination when the raven-haired beauty’s tirade began. All of a sudden it was the three girls that were being accused of being purveyors of indecency and corruption, a charge leveled by a pot blacker than a pitch-covered kettle. At the climax of her rant Rei brought her face as close to the blonde girl’s as she could manage, a feat that involved physically pressing her giant assets firmly against the only natural pair in existence that was visibly greater in magnitude. The ripples from the resulting impact nearly knocked out Ami and Makoto, and even Luna was left stunned for a brief moment.
When her wits recovered, the cat slipped past the four pornified knockouts to take a closer look at the temple grounds. There was no point hanging around to watch this confrontation reach its inevitable conclusion, not with Usagi’s lower lip already quivering and Rei showing no sign of slowing her assault. Luna could try to intercede herself on her charges’ behalf, but she had the feeling that Rei’s reaction to a talking cat would probably be to assume this was even more proof of unnatural villainy on their part.
There was another reason not to stick around as well. She couldn’t put a whisker on it, but there was a faint sense of wrongness in the air nearby. Luna hurried towards the source, following nearly the same path Rei had taken earlier when she dragged Kotori away by the ear. As she drew closer to the storeroom, the lunar cat grew more certain in her conviction that there was something foul amiss. In fact, when she came within a couple meters of the source she was positive she knew exactly where and what it was that was giving her the mystical heebie-jeebies, even though it was invisible.
It was a rift, or at least the remnants of one. Sometime in the last few minutes, perhaps even more recently, someone had opened a gateway between this world and the Negaverse. Usagi’s Real World portal, at least the one Luna had travelled through, had been completely undetectable to her heightened supernatural senses. This dimensional passageway however threatened to wring the cat’s stomach like a washcloth with the leftover perverse, foul stench from whatever atmosphere leaked through from the other side.
The most important question was, had someone come through this portal from the Negaverse, or had they travelled there from this spot? If it was the former, then there could be a Negaverse agent somewhere nearby right this moment!
The Sailor Scouts needed to know, but simply rushing in without any information on who or what they were looking for would almost certainly cause another conflict with the shrine maiden. Worst case scenario, they could end up offending her so completely that she could utterly refuse the mantle of Sailor Mars out of spite. No, Luna needed to have some idea what their adversary’s plan was so they could unmask it in front of the tempestuous young woman and simultaneously convince her of their own innocence.
Not far from the storeroom, Luna found Rei using a broom to take out her annoyance on the unfortunate dust and dirt that had gotten onto one of the temple paths. Also with the gorgeous priestess was her assistant, the girl that had been so fascinated with Usagi’s pigtails earlier. Of the pair, she seemed to be taking her task much more seriously, since Rei was keeping her eyes glued to her helper to the detriment of her sweeping. Also not helping the task were the frequent pauses to cup and fondle her oversized breasts or press the heel of her hand firmly against her groin.
The cat didn’t know about the assistant’s true nature (nor was she aware that the false Kotori had deliberately lead Rei to this spot, far away from the corrupted bell on the temple grounds), but the change in the girl’s demeanor was about as obvious as a smack to the face. Was she connected to the Negaverse somehow? Luna drew upon her seldom-used feline nature to creep silently closer to the pair. Perhaps she could spot something that would give her away, or catch a whiff of lingering Negaverse stench on her.
In spite of her innate skill at stealth passed down to her by her cat ancestors, her quarry turned her head suddenly in her direction. A confused look on Kotori’s face turned into an evil, clever grin for a split second, before she turned away from Luna to address her superior.
“Rei-sempai?”
“Y-Yes?!” sputtered Rei, embarrassed to be caught in the middle of licking her fingers.
“Are black cats truly harbingers of evil? There seems to be one watching us right now.”
The temple priestess allowed Kotori to direct her attention, and the moment she spotted Luna all thoughts of keeping Kotori under surveillance went right out the window. The cat blinked, and immediately her vision was filled with the sight of a tightly bound bundle of straw swooping down from above with insane velocity. Only her reflexes prevented the highly esteemed resident of the Moon Kingdom from becoming flattened roadkill.
Luna got the message. With breakneck speed she bolted for safety in a specific direction: anywhere but here.
“Come back here, Minion of Perversion!” Rei yelled, chasing after the fleeing suspect with her broom raised high. Coincidentally, the other girl present chose to stop sweeping as well; she had business to attend to.
