The day went fairly well, except for an incident with a disruptive smart-ass kid named Vic, and before he knew it Reddick found himself at the end of another day. He was packing his case and getting ready to leave when there was a knock at the door. "Yes?"
The door opened, and the gloriously beautiful face of a woman of about 30 poked in. "Is Vic here? I'm his mother, Val."
"Sorry, no. He's down in detention. I can show you where that is."
Reddick took a breath as Val stepped in. She was a tall drink of water, drop dead pretty, and her breasts seemed downright stratospheric to his hungry eyes. 40F? he dared estimate.
"I want to apologize, for his disrupting your class," said Val. "I blame myself. There's no strong father figure around the house, it's just me, and I'm afraid I'm a pushover, and he's very willful ... "
"Please, sit down ... Val? As in Valerie?"
"No, Valentina." She looked around. "You know, I was always so interested in history ... "
The minutes flew by, and by the time Val left Reddick had her phone number.
