Naturally Sharon began to panic a little when she realised that she was pregnant. The speed at which things were progressing meant that an abortion would not be possible. She decided not to go and see her doctor. He could do nothing and she wanted to delay the moment when the rest of the world would find out about what had happened to her for as long as possible.
When it was time for the birth, she discovered there was one big advantage of being a rubber woman. Because she could simply stretch, the birth was very quick, easy and totally painless. Like Sharon, her baby looked normal enough, but poking it gently revealed that it too was made of rubber.
She put it to her breast, where it contentedly suckled, apparently happy with a diet of liquid latex. Soon it was asleep on her lap.
"It looks like we'd better not have any more unprotected sex," Jim said.
"No. But what do we do now? I don't see how I can keep secret that I'm a rubber woman with a rubber baby, but I don't want to find myself in the centre of a media circus or whisked off to some top secret government research institute."
