Jim's smile faded, as he realized that the animated version of his girlfriend Sharon was standing on a frozen lake next to a sign that read "Thin Ice -- Beware". He had seen enough cartoons to know what that could lead to. "Sharon!" he called out to the television screen. "Look out!"
But the animated girl didn't seem to hear him. She just stood there looking around in her Victoria's Secret outfit. Suddenly, a sharp cracking sound could be heard. The girl looked down to see that the ice beneath her feet was starting to break up. She just had time to look up, seeming to make eye contact with Jim in the real world, before dropping into a hole that formed where she stood.
"Sharon!" Jim shouted. But he knew it was too late, and was not surprised at what he saw next.
A large, perfectly square-cornered block of ice bobbed up from the hole. It just bounced around at the surface for a few seconds. Trapped inside, like a fly in amber, was the cartoon Sharon. Then the picture faded, leaving the same message that had appeared after the Victoria's Secret commercial on the screen.
PROGRAMMING COMPLETED
SELECT NEW CHANNEL?
Jim quickly turned to where Sharon had been before he'd turned on the cartoon. As he expected, Sharon had reappeared, and just as she had been in the cartoon, the now real Sharon was encased in a block of ice. "Don't worry, Sharon," Jim told her. "I'll have you out of there in a jiffy."
